Loeb Writing Batman - FOR MARVEL

No links here since I just heard it at a Marvel panel, but Loeb is doing a series based on the Adam West Batman series for Marvel as well as the Linda Carter Wonder Woman series. The artist will be Art Adams. No specifics were given as it was a quick throw-away line, but that just sounded like the most ridiculous thing ever. I can't even begin to think how the rights work in this issue.

This might be better than All Star Batman and Robin.

He may be doing an Adam West and or Linda Carter comic but no references to the Bat or WW will be made.

He was probably joking. There is no way this would be legal. Unless featuring heavily veiled versions of the characters.

The Batman TV series can not even get a DVD release, so how would Marvel ever manage this feat?

Its an absurd notion not even worth speculating about.

Marvel already publishes Batman. But at Marvel his name is Moon Knight. ;)

Isn't Marvel tied in with Universal in some way or Fox? For some reason I recall these two companies having been part of the battle over the 60's Batman series.

It's a joke, people.

Marvel held its Ultimate Comics panel Friday evening at WonderCon, and CBR was on hand to bring you the latest announcements. Senior Editor Mark Paniccia led the presentation, joined moments later by Art Adams.
Paniccia began by announcing that Art Adams is now Marvel-exclusive, at which time Adams ascended the stage. His first project will be with Jeph Loeb, though the nature of the series is still “top secret.” Adams protested that he had to tell people something about it.
“Somehow Marvel has actually acquired the rights to the Adam West 'Batman' series, the Lynda Carter 'Wonder Woman' series, and the 'Power of Shazam' TV series, and we'll be doing that!” Adams joked.

Well, the jokes on me then. I know the shows are up in a weird legal thing with Fox and it was hard to tell if Adams was joking because he was silly throughout. So it seemed absurdly possible.

My bad.

The lawsuit only was an extra layer of impossibility. But a unneeded one!

A Batman comic published by Marvel alone is absurd.

Wasn't there earlier a rumor that because of the Superboy legal controversy, a non-DC publisher would be allowed to publish a Superboy comic book as long he doesn't become Superman? Or that it could be a Superman based on the 1930s comics only and nothing after that, since the (deceased) creator owned the character for a certain period of time?

That was a fan concocted scenario. DC comics owns certain trademarks that would prevent that from ever even if the Siegel family got the actual copyrights.
