News Live-Action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ tv series in the works

9 month knee injury? Would even a torn ACL take that long?
Yeah, that sounds crazy long. I wonder if he has some scheduled filming that takes precedent coming up in the first half of next year. That would explain it, though reading the article, they make it sound like it's dependent on his healing, not other filming.

He's the lead actor in an action show and he's suffered a bad knee injury. No mystery there.

Although I gather they've only just begun production, so I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to recast the role. I mean, Cho's a great choice for a lead actor (though about 20 years too old for Spike), but if you ever have to replace a lead actor, early in pilot shooting is a good time to do it. (Like when Star Trek: Voyager dropped Genevieve Bujold as the lead when it became evident after just a couple of days' filming that she wasn't up to the schedule and workload of series television.)

teaser to showing John Cho as Spike, Daniella Pineda as Faye and Mustafa Shakir as Jet.

Cho looks pretty good, but I'm not really huge on the Faye styling, but it could vary depending on episode/caper... So who knows.

Jet looks the most different since he's kind of a like a Fatherly type figure in a way in the show, but he's def not looking that way here.

Teaser also confirms Yoko Kanno is providing original music for the live action series.

That clip is just to announce Yoko is doing the music. I doubt the actors are in costume.

Looks casual, or at least promo footage "casual" to me.

Maybe I'm just out of touch with fashion (quite likely, actually), but their outfits don't look contemporary in style to me, and they do seem to fit the characters they're playing (given that they presumably wouldn't dress Faye as skimpily as in the anime). But we'll see when we get actual footage, of course.

And what is taking them so long with announcing Edward's casting?

Wikipedia says she is going to be in it, but when I followed the link to the cited article, there was no mention of her anywhere, so I don't know.
She didn't come into the anime until a few episodes in, so maybe they're going a bit slower with the live action version, and aren't introducing her until next season.

So, Faye's hairs are really purple? I always thought it was one of that anime conventions, like we see purples lights but in universe they have black hairs. A little like Sailor Moon, we see her blonde but in the cartoon universe she has black hairs.

Not uncommon in live-action adaptations. In the X-Men, Nightcrawler and Beast were supposed to have black fur that was represented with blue highlights in the comics, but their movie versions have blue fur.

I had a similar thought about Spike's suit. Is it really supposed to be that shade of blue, or was that an animation convention as well?
