Little moments in movies you love.

I loved the scene in Jaws when they are out at sea hunting and Quint has the fishing rod in action.

The camera pans out to him with the fishing reel in the front.. suddenly there's a small tug and the reel makes this clicking sound followed by more tugging and sounds.

Quint gets all serious and prepares because he knows this is it.

There rarely is more tension in a single scene and it proves why Spielberg is a master of visual storytelling.

^^^^
Yup.

The scene where Quint tells the story of the demise of USS Indianapolis is very well done also. It really draws you in.

when Duke and Ripcord are being shown the Pit in GIJROC and you see an Asian chick pulling on the invisibility suit, before martial-arts-whupping the other two Joes.

it's only Jinx, innit!

I love the scene near the end of The Royal Tenenbaums in which Chas is violently attacking Eli and throws him over the backyard wall; he follows him over and both end up lying peacefully in the zen garden next door.

Also from The Royal Tenenbaums, Margot's line, "I can't even begin to think about knowing how to answer that question."

In Superbad my friend and I seemed to be the only ones who laughed at a particular scene, but I thought it was the funniest in the movie: The two cops are talking to McLovin in their squad car, and quote something from Star Wars. They say something to the effect of, "That's Yoda, you know, from Attack of the Clones." I got a kick out of that.

From Paper Moon, Addie anouncing to the policeman that she has to go to the "shithouse."

In keeping with "little moments",

in the original X-Men movie, Cyclops is looking at a train schedule, when he looks sideways to see a little kid staring. Cyclops smiles, and the kid shyly smiles back, before his mother rushes him away. Cute stuff.

In G.I.. Joe Scarlett is supposedly a tough young woman, but in her opening scene she spends her time pinned to the ground and needing help. Later she gets beat up by the Baronees, even while using special equipment to help herself, and in Paris she needs rescue as well. not really moments i love but I find them amusing

One that came to mind tonight, while watching Children of Men.

The second time Theo is at Jasper's cabin, there's one point where he's walking through the woods, and takes a moment just to look up at the trees, and you hear the wind rustling through them and making the trees creak. It's just this little subtle hint that he truly feels alive for the first time in the movie. Great stuff.
