A general thread for little seemingly unimportant things from any era you loved.

The one I really miss is the "alert condition red" warning from the TOS movies and wish it was in all the series after.

The warp core glow/flow from TMP/TWOK/VOY is awesome.

I much prefer the swept back low chair design of the the navigation and ops seats in the first season of TNG.

I just think Data and Geordi look much cooler like that doing business and rocketing along through space.

It was a different style than on TOS and something different was a good thing on a new Star Trek show with a starship called Enterprise.

Rightly so. It was different from the standard alert and it fit the experimental nature of the new spore drive.

Black Alert could've been Blue Alert

Work Bee's. I just think they look practical and realistic. I could see something like them being in use by the end of the century, or earlier.

I love all the signage created for The Motion Picture, and then used throughout the Trek franchise after. I popped when the old transporter symbol appeared on the viewscreen in the 2009 Trek movie:lol:

(on ship level, it's more disastrous than red alert... it's kinda cool, actually... despite the tiny issue of it being a really serious issue that makes red pale in comparison...)

Also, there's a great question to be raised when switching alert status:

But when the ship takes a beating, it gets a black and blue alert...

And where's the "hide under desk" emoticon? :guffaw:

I can't remember what it actually was, but there was a behind-the-scenes reason that was changed. It may have been a comfort issue for the actors or that some actors needed a cushion to keep from being swallowed up in those chairs.

Part of the New Orleans-class ships are just painted markers. So now all the recreations of this ship that was this incredibly minor background decoration for one shot have painstakingly recreated these markers. And as someone who used to build starships out of batteries and tupperware lids I bloody love it.
Also the UESPA seal appearing in Voyager and Enterprise.

I like the control surfaces used during TMP-TSFS. I like the combination of touch buttons and physical buttons.

Oh yeah I could totally believe there was some practical defect about it that needed correcting.

I loved it in 1987 when I first saw it because it was different than TOS. It seemed as though it would keep a person in position if the ship was thrown about.

You know how easy it was to fall out of a chair on the old 1701.

I guess the risk with those chairs was that people fell asleep quickly XD

The auxiliary console chairs at the rear. I liked the way they tucked into the console deck, retracted when someone needed to sit. One touch that would've been cool is the back rest being able to extend up for more comfortable seating. I know this bank covers weapons status, damage control, mission ops, science analysis, engineering, & environment, but is there an official reference name for that whole grouping?

    I like the Enterprise-D's carpets.
And those "alien" potted plants they shoved into so many rooms in season 1, the ones with the blue leaves which are obviously made of paper.
Oh and the beds they often used in the later seasons, with the planting pots integrated into the head part. Must be fun to sleep under the leaves of your potted ferns and rubber figs
