Yes, I agree with you. Lal could've been an asset to TNG. Just think of the fun she & Data could've had working as Father & daughter on the Enterprise. She obviously was accepted by the crew and Capt. Picard. She wasn't just an android - "I think therefore, I am". She was just as real as Data and even (maybe) better.TNG "The Offspring" on H&I
They treat Lal like she's property even after it's been established twice previously that Soong-type sentient androids (specifically Data) have the full rights as other sentient humanoids.
Then there's the bit about Lal being able to use contractions such as "I've" when Data can not. Then not two minutes later when speaking to Picard, Data says "I've". Oops.
They could have at least dressed and given a different hairstyle to Lal like she didn't belong to one of those sister-wives cults.
