The Search for Spock
There's been a thread on this site, reminding us of how strong an entry it is in The Classic Series movies. I'd not seen it in a while and suspected that I might get bored, or not like parts of it, or the usual thing, like that, which sometimes happens with formerly liked films. And you know what? It was really, really good. I'm serious.
There were only a couple of times I jolted out of the movie a bit, and that's when Puppet Spock is just sitting there with his face pulsing, when minutes before, he'd been screaming like a banshee and running around, like a chicken without a head. Now he just sits still and gurgles, because he's a Stan Winston puppet, or whatever.
The other time is when Kruge's on a ledge that gives way and it cracks off and slides down in a most peculiar Ray Harryhaussen kind of way. To their credit, ILM did try to cover that up with a fireball, but ... yeah ... nice try and all that. Otherwise, a superb film. Just beautiful and classically acted. I'm very glad I watched it. TSFS was the last of the "good" TOS movies. They really should've just stopped making anymore, now Spock's alive. But ... OH, WELL!!!
