VOY: Before and After
The lovely and quite wonderful Jennifer Lien gets something meatier to do on the show, with various makeups and unusual story elements. A lot to mine from, with this episode. It could've been even made even better, had the character Harry Kim not been involved in it, the way he is. He really throws a spanner in the works and there's no way to sort of "edit" him out, by turning away from the screen, for a moment, or two. He just keeps pouring it on! But when he's not onscreen? You'll find out what entertainment's all about ...

It's funny, I barely remember him from this episode, only that he married Tom Paris' daughter, which kinda sounds creepy on the face of it.

I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall in Tom & Kes' quarters when Kim's intentions became known. A lot of very memorable quotes to be found in such a sequence ...
There's a missed opportunity for the writers! They could have made Kes appear right in the middle of this discussion while she was traveling back in time.

The entire sequence of Archer and T'Pol squirming around while tied up was really dumb. who ties a pair together at the waist loose enough so that they can turn around to face each other? Almost sounds like an attempt at forced copulation.

If I fast forward through Shinzon's hitting on Troi, when he first meets her and, of course, through his Mind Rape scenes, it's really not half bad, I'm discovering. I still hate it that Marina and Gates are allowed to look like total shit in it - it's unforgivable, in fact. And it's not a brilliant film, by any means. But it's not too bad ...
