The Royale: Essentially another "stuck in the Holodeck" episode, minus the holodeck. Col. Richey's suit had an Apollo 17 mission patch on the sleeve, right under the 52-star American flag.

Peak Performance: Picard states flat out that Starfleet isn't a military organization, and David L. "Squiggy" Lander plays one of the Ferengi. (with Trek's favorite go-to Ferengi Armin Shimerman, of course).

Oh, I agree with you. This episode was from season two, when Gene Roddenberry was still actively involved, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote that line himself.

To my mind, Kirk trumps Picard.

"The Enemy Within" on Netflix.

I watched it with my friend who's never seen TOS before. We liked the themes and most of the story, but, wow, the way they handle the assault against Janice Rand is unthinkably bad.
