lets talk ferengi...

thats what makes them such great characters, dont forget after rom tries to kill quark, quark gives him a promotion to reward his "treachery"

Quark's own mother told him that he was a bad ferengi for not killing himself when he made that deal with Brunt.

I'm up to Season 3 in my rewatch so far, and I have to admit I've got a whole new appreciation for Quark now. Shimerman's performance was absolutely inspired, and a whole lot funnier and more interesting and complex than I remembered. In fact I'd put it right up there with Spiner's performance as Data or Nimoy's as Spock. He just absolutely owned that character and is a ton of fun to watch in nearly every scene he's in.

Personally, I think that Quark is the funniest Character of DS9, and maybe of the whole franchise. He's the perfect foil for Odo who's a little stiff by comparison, thought he's sometimes funny too but in a deadpan kind of way.

My comment doesn't have to do with DS9, but it does have to do with the Ferengi. I didn't think it needed a thread of its own, so here goes.

Wouldn't it have been funny if the two Ferengi who got stuck on the wrong side of the Barzan wormhole in that TNG episode had turned out to be the same two that Voyager found in that one episode where they had convinced the people on one planet that they were gods and were exploiting them?

Considering that the Barzan wormhole was an unstable one, it's plausible that the next time it opened on the Ferengi end in the TNG episode, they could have entered it, trying to get back to the Alpha Quadrant, but ended up in the Delta Quadrant instead. I think it would have been funny had the writers chosen to do it this way.

They were the same Ferengi (albeit played by different actors).

In fact the Voyager crew tried to use this same wormhole to go back home but the Ferengi pulled some kind of shenanigans with an energy pulse and it made both ends unstable.
