Now *why* fifth dimensional synthetic beings (and whats so special about being synthetic*??) would care about saving fourth dimensional synths?? Especially since the supposed REAL threshold is just knowing the combination to the subspace safe? And why would a 400,000 year old race even think in terms like that? In a way ALL the bipeds in Trek are synthetic. Hell maybe the race being called in ep 10 ARE The Preservers. I'd much rather a benevolent race come through and take all the synths with them. Except Soji of course who stays behind to 'learn what being human is about'.

*I don't even know why Maddux et al were so obsessed with making 'skinjobs' other than to be able to say they did it. An android like Data seems much superior to a skinjob.

Yes, this is what I thought when I saw it (though I hope it isn't true). The next question is: will we get a Season 3 trailer for Disco at the end of next week's finale?

Having the big bad being Control also means people that signed up to CBS All Access only for Picard, will go and binge Discovery S1 and S2 for the Control backstory, and then stick around for Discovery S3 to see the next chapter.

How I see it potentially going: Control gets through and goes absolutely apeshit and we see it use those megaportals to spread across everywhere, and it literally blows up the Earth, and Picard and Friends end up on the Borg cube, which Borg Queen Seven uses to battering ram through the portal that Control came through to escape impending annihilation.

And that's the cliffhanger.

Didn't Sutra also called him "Jean-Luc Picard -- Data's Captain"? Soong knew about Picard's experience with Starfleet Command following the Synth attack, so he should know he was (most recently) an Admiral. It was an odd line that suspiciously stood out.

I think we're about to see the real purpose of the existence of the Borg: to act as protectors of all biological life in the galaxy. I wouldn't be surprised if the final battle is between a dozen borg cubes and the synthetic ships while the romulans and the Fed fleet are destroyed around the planet.

What if Control wasn't really by itself the threat?

What if Control simply learned how to contact the intergalactic synth alliance when it got more data from the sphere?

IOW, Picard might be retconning part of Discovery.
