Les Moonves Leaving CBS...

Ugh. I mean IMO the only appropriate reaction is to be glad that he's been booted, but I know exactly what the Fitz/Doomcock/Midnight's Edge crowd are going to do with this.

I'm just waiting for the "Moonves embezzled money from the Discovery budget and will be going to prison!" claims.

Do they forge alliances with, say, Hulu?
I think they will go all in on CBSAA. However, to answer the question above, why would they form an alliance with the streaming service that is now majority owned by Disney, which owns ABC, a direct competitor?

Not if the Impossible Mission Force have anything to say about that. ;)

Disney will eventually, Disney will buy everything. In the future we’ll just call it the Company because we all work for them. Then they’ll want to get their hands on a xenomorph for a theme park attraction.

Disney is not that big comparatively speaking. For a period earlier in the year Netflix was actually more valuable than them (and might still be, I haven't seen anything lately).

Disney's value is somewhere in the $250 billion range while Amazon/Apple both recently crossed the trillion dollar threshold. Apple has enough cash on hand that they could buy Disney using only that...

Apple or Amazon purchasing CBS and Viacom is a likely scenario. Both have expressed great desire in getting heavily into the TV/Streaming and Movie game to go head to head with Netflix and Comcast. Both have extremely deep pockets and infrastructure to make it happen. Just a matter of time..(IMHO)

CBS actually is setting pretty well to be an independent streaming entertainment provider. They have a few properties that are doing well, and they can license those or handle them in-house as they wish. That might make them an attractive buy-out target (I think a merger with Paramount, long term, may be inevitable) but may also leave them leaner than the big guys and able to compete.

I'm seeing myself type about the Matlock and Murder She Wrote Network like it's the youthful competitor in a race with old slothful giants like Netflix and Amazon, and I am shaking my head at myself.

One of the Big Three - Amazon (controls all commercial activity), Alphabet (controls all intellectual activity), and Disney (controls all entertainment).

Agreed. If there is a merger of streaming services I think it would be the merger of CBSAA and Showtime streaming. I think that combined product would be a very attractive one with a lot of content though would likely come with a price increase if you are not a showtime subscriber.

Motherfucker.
For everyone that is even a little bit interested in this topic and Les Moonves, I advise you to read this article:

It has actually nothing to do with Star Trek at all. But it's a great insight on who women are treated in the industry, and by people like Les Moonves especially. Just for people to actually ge a feel for what "systematic discrimination" actually means.

Jeff Bezos played an alien Starfleet officer on the Yorktown. He's a bald alien and his scene has Greg Grunberg in it. it's near the end of the film.
Memory-Alpha says this is him, which is not the end of the film, but during the translation scene near the start with Kalara
