Leonard Nimoy Passes Away

It was only a couple of weeks ago the episode of Family Guy which spoofs Spock's funeral scene from TWOK was on tv in the UK.

It's just not that funny now.

One of those celebrities whose death makes everyone go "Awww" and feel a bit sad, regardless of whether they were a Trek fan or not. He's been a part of people's lives for so long it genuinely just hits you right there. RIP Mr. Nimoy.

In many people's lives, a fictional character comes along who gives them the will to live. .... So I'm starting something today. Everyone for whom the character of Spock gave hope, and everyone whose lives Leonard Nimoy has touched in some way, say this with me:

I Am Spock.

SF3

I'll say it. I am Spock.
Some time ago I located and bought this relic, scanned it, and passed it on to My Star Trek Scrapbook. This says it all about what kind of person Leonard Nimoy was.

Spock -- Teenage Outcast (FaVE, May '69)

What a thing to wake up to.
I half expected it after seeing he was hospitalized, but hoped for the best.

Bluejay
Wow, @KTJ! What a fantastic piece. Folks, if you ever want to know how Leonard Nimoy understood the soul of the Spock character while he was portraying him, read this incredible, real response to fan mail from 1968.

I don't post much, more of a lurker. My earliest memory is watching TOS with my old man who passed 5 years back. RIP Leonard you were a legend to me when I was a nipper (kid for the American posters)

LLAP - God Bless

There are so many things I want to say, but nothing really matters ... one of my greatest heroes has passed away!

Rest In Peace, Leonard Nimoy.

You provided entertainment, diversion, and more importantly, hope for the future, to a legion of Star Trek fans, myself among them, for almost 50 years. Thank you!

Well said--agreed 100%. He was one my early acting heroes, having discovered him on TOS and Mission: Impossible in the early 1970s.

Unfortunately. his recent wave of health problems made me fear the worst, but he lived a strong, good life, and I pray his family and friends will find some peace in the time ahead.

I firmly believe he is in a better place, and no longer has to deal with the terrible, trying problems that comes with living in this mortal shell.

He will be missed more than I can say.

Terrible news. I so wanted him to be in another Trek incarnation. He was my inspiration to become a scientist. :(

Not unexpected, but sad nonetheless.

Spock *was* Star Trek. His character is what attracted me to the series back in 1971 as a young teen trying to navigate her way through adolescence.

Great character and a classy actor.

Rest in peace, Leonard. God bless.

I could watch this interview a million times...

Very sad. Possibly the greatest actor on any of the TV Series or movies. A great loss for all of Trek Nation today.

RIP Leonard.

Live Long And Prosper.

He had a great life. Long lived and prosperous. You read some of the obits and you realize just how much stuff this guy got to do. It's also amazing how much stuff he was good at. Truly a rennaisance man. I'd be grateful to live nearly as long as he did and do a few of the things he got to do. Not bad for a kid from the West End who used to sell Boston Heralds on the Common for some pocket money.
LLRP!
