LEGO Enterprise rumors

Looks like you can get some lighting kits on eBay now which look nice. I was checking if they have some nice display cases for it yet but it’s probably too early.

I'm debating on a lighting kit. I'd need to see a video on one to see what it really looks like, how much the wires are exposed and how easy it is to install. (And some people may care if it compromises the separation feature.)
They usually come with instructions on how to install them. You usually only have to remove a few bricks. Could be two separate power units so you can still separate it.

I saw this lighting kit, but the nacelles have the LED strips on the outside of the build.

I'm waiting to see what Light My Bricks come up with.

And as if by magic, my Enterprise has arrived! I doubt I'll be able to start building until new year. Still waiting for the GWPs.

I don't think mine will be arriving for a week or two, as I have another lego product that is part of my order (brought a space shuttle for my niece). Doesn't bother me at the moment, as I know it is on back order. I should email them in the morning with a query about something.

It’s all finally done. It’s a lot bigger than I expected. Now I need to find a place to put it.

I’ve just finished building the star drive section and I’m not impressed. Since when were the impulse engines orange?

And the bussard collectors come right off with the merest pull.

I was surprised they didn't use transparent red parts for the impulse drives.

As I understand it when they design the kits they're given a target retail price they have to be within a few dollars of and this can lead to be something of a burden as either sacrifices need to be made for larger sets and meaningless things have to be added to the smaller ones.

Certain pieces are more expensive for being rare (they can't just print the exact number of pieces needed) or difficult to produce or the set may require them to design a whole new piece.

Minifigs are factor too, unique faces and chest and arm pieces can really eat at a budget.

With the license to Star Trek, 9 minifigures (each with at least one unique print required), new pieces (at the very least Worf's head piece and Guinan's hat piece) already eating at their budget the orange impulse engines may have been somewhere to make the budget. Maybe in a "turn off the daytime running lights for better fuel economy" kind of way but needed to be done to get one more Technic piece to make the saucer more sturdy. The transparent pieces cost a little more and color can impact costs as well.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here. They wanted trans-red there they just couldn't "afford" it.

They probably chose that colour as it stands out better. It’s Lego so you can easily change it with a transparent red or bright red flat tile if you like.

A fun thing to do if I had a lot of money would be to replace all the gray pieces with purple ones so I could have a purple Enterprise.
