Be warned there will probably be spoilers ahead!

I'd also like to ask everyone to please be considerate and use spoiler code as much as possible, particularly if you are going to be referencing things from the books which have not yet happened on screen.

To defeat the enemy, Richard must become the enemy. Now, the deception begins!

Trailer

I have to say I really enjoyed this episode. It was a solid standalone episode and I really felt like Richard was showing some leadership. I particularly liked the fist fight. Very good action sequence.

What did everyone else think?

I liked it to be sure.. I liked how they humanized the enemy to Richard.... very good stuff.....

they had to...
He is after all; the magic against magic to their steel against steel.

Assuming they don't change that too of course. I hope they don't though because it will make a nice surprise for those not familiar with the books. They could even make it a season finale cliffhanger.

If the Richard of the show was the Richard of the books(and the way Brooks went over the top with his political views) I think that Richard would have supported killing the supporters of the enemy he was fighting.

It got quite over the top near the end of the books with Brooks political views and how he thought if a normal citizen say an innkeeper didn't rise up and oppose the regime he lived under then he was an accomplice to the acts that regime was carrying out.

^I believe the name you are looking for is Goodkind, not Brooks. ;)

I agree that his political views seemed to go over the top near the end. Maybe I'm just imagining it but the tone of the books seemed to changed after 9/11.

Oh you're right, I mixed up my fantasy authors. God knows Brooks doesn't go crazy-ass neocon in the Shannara series ;)

Good episode, I thought the guy playing the enemy captain did a nice job and I hope we see him again.
