Spoilers Legacy character announced for SNW

Why not use George Kirk? Nothing is known about him

Hmmmmm...have they said this is James Kirk or just Captain Kirk? Even if we go with his novel history as a non-com under April he could've gotten a field commission to commander and had the con...maybe in a flashback...

MechaRandom42 discussed the dates and ages and its possible he maybe GEORGE KIRK as otherwise he would need to be 18.

here is the discussion analysis and more video clips and more pictures:-

Beat me to it.

As much as my initial reaction to this is negative, it is also true that Burnham being Spock's sister sounded so stupid the first time I heard it, and ultimately I thought that story worked out fantastically..

As some one who feels your first reaction was mostly correct, my fears are not abated.

I'm 37 and get guessed at 50. I think if people didn't know this actor's age it would not matter. Looking at him and guessing his age is not easy.

This casting does mean we probably won't get an episode in a space carnival with a guess your age/weight booth. It would strain credibility now.

You lost me there.

She is a known hater/gifter, nothing she says about TV shows/movies matters at all.

So...I shouldn't watch the video?

Gifter?

Lesser known characters in TOS are lesser known because they are lesser. No one cares.

Except the many of us who do...

I've never liked leaks. Doesn't mean I avoid them.

Funny: I avoid most things I don't like...

He met William Shatner on the plane. How dense and confused could a person be?

ETA: Here's the post in the other thread linking to whatever social media page it's on.

Well, there goes that hope.

I watched the scene in "The Menagerie" today and referencing Pike, Kirk says, "I met him when he became Fleet Captain". Shortly after he mentions that he took over the Enterprise from him. Before leaving, he calls Pike "Chris". The Commodore even thinks that Pike would make an exception regarding visitors for "these men". Gene Roddenberry even thought Kirk commanded a "destroyer" before getting the Enterprise. Add all that together and it sounds like a TON of wiggle room regarding Pike and Kirk's history and relationship.

I agree with all of this. My fear is that the writers were unaware of any of it. I hope my fears are unfounded.

So far, Picard season two is a marked improvement over season one.

A low bar, but true.

the actor mentioned how much of an honor it is to be filling Shatner’s shoes, he’s most definitely playing Jim, not George.

To be fair, Shatner did also play George Jr...

As ‪‪I said in the portion of the quoted sentence you removed from the quote:

Paramount has confirmed he’s playing James T. Kirk, and the actor mentioned how much of an honor it is to be filling Shatner’s shoes, he’s most definitely playing Jim, not George.

Here’s a link to the initial announcement via tweet where Wesley is confirmed to be playing Captain James T. “Jim” Kirk.

The few of you. People talk to the likeminded on line and convince themselves they're an army.

By all means avoid this show, especially if it gives you "fears."

The George Kirk claims are nonsense, apparently based on not paying attention to what's going on.

And it's hard not to look askance at the posts of a newbie who joins and adopts the overreaching screenname "truthchampion" for the apparent purpose of driving traffic to a couple of lame YouTube channels.
