Spoilers Legacy character announced for SNW

Meaning: The messaging of what SNW actually is has been lousy so far, and IF the fact that "Kirk" appears, they should have told us the whole deal ("joining us as a guest star for season 2:"/"Taking over from season 2 onwards:"/"Introducing for a limited series later on:"). So far, the messaging is a desaster. The overwhelming feedback negative. And a lot of good-will scrambled. It might turn out great in the end. But Paramount really needs to work on it's marketing.
Yup. It takes away from the overall message and leaves me scratching my head. Any interest in the show is diminished greatly.

Additionally I think he's just not a good fit for Kirk.
Like, he definitely looks the part.

But everything I have ever seen him in, he always looks brooding and serious. Kirk had a great deal of swagger.
Anson Mount has that. I'm missing that from Paul Wesley.

Could totally be wrong though. When I saw Anson Mount in "Inhumans" I was pretty sceptical too, and he turned out to be absolutely awesome. But so far I'm just not seeing it here.

As extremely skeptical as I am I have no issue with his acting. The whole point of actors is the ability to act out a role.

I don't know who Mecka-lecka-hi-mecka-hiney-ho42 is or why I should care, but that is not accurate and short by 8 or 9 years. So I'll pass on the 1 hour 42 minute video to discuss a couple of still photographs. Christ almighty.

And the actor has already announced he's playing James T. Kirk, I believe.

If you watch the MechaRandom42 video which has a mystery guest on it the reasoning is explained why it could be George Kirk even though you say the actor has admitted he playing Kirk he may have got confused between J Kirk and G Kirk if has never seen ST.

The timeline is analyzed and it has videos of Wesley going into his trailer and live shooting footage.

The video is long but some of it is about other things. Watch the first hour and 15 mins.

Mecha is a professional troll who's been spreading lies about Trek for years. No thanks.

The official Trek social media pages have referred to him as playing James Kirk.

The problem is if you're in a situation where a single leak substantially destroys your whole messaging. When no-one knows what's going on anymore.
Only to people who overreact and blow things way out of proportion.
In this case: No-one knows if SNW is actually going to be a "Pike"-show anymore (as advertised) or "TOS reboot 2.0", or just some veeeeeery dumb cameo galore.

Jesus Christ, it's been one day. Give them some time and I'm sure more answers will be forthcoming. Or, do the normal fan freak out and jumping to conclusions instead of having a little patience.

Regardless of Kirk's role in this, I am absolutely 100% sure Christopher Pike will continue to play a substantial lead role in the show for a long time. Anson Mount's take on the character is too well-received and had too much build-up on Discovery to have him only play a minor part in this series to pass the baton to Kirk. He will be around whether as captain or fleet captain.
The overwhelming feedback negative.
Took a survey, did ya? Well, my bullshit anecdotalometer reading says otherwise.
And a lot of good-will scrambled. It might turn out great in the end. But Paramount really needs to work on it's marketing.
The photos leaked, so they had to quickly get out in front out it. This was not a planned marketing event. Give them some time and more information will be forthcoming.
