Vice Admiral

Not to be negative.. as I embark on my fourth viewing of Voyager, but there is one episode I don't have the stomach to watch again. Prey. The one where Seven throws that poor creature under the bus. Yeah Species 8472. I HATED Seven in that episode. She was cruel, smug and righteous. She had the nerve to lecture Janeway about individuality like her insubordinate revenge was good enough to ignore the rights of another sentient individual. Hypocrite. The Borg were to blame for the war with Species 8472 and Seven proved herself a true Borg bitch. Took me many episodes to soften toward Seven after that.

"Displaced"

Tom & Torres having their little spats is the highlight of the show and the most interesting thing about it. The rest is so indicative of just how lazy these shitty-assed writers can be, at times. And it's so not fair to those of us out in the audience who are watching this show, expecting to be entertained, for an hour. It's worse than a waste of time ...

There are several that I don't care for and will skip during a rewatch...

Heroes and Demons
Cathexis
The 37s
Elogium
Non Sequitur
Parturition
Persistence of Vision
Tattoo
Cold Fire
Innocence
Sacred Ground
Warlord
Before and After
Unforgettable

The Fight

I enjoy this episode. I'm curious what you find lazy about it

Can I say the "Fight"? Seriously, to see Chakotay in a holodeck simulation of a boxing ring or In full hallucinations (and following the mental mental breakdown) was boring.
And seen the unpopularity of this episode, it seems that I was not alone to be confused. Seriously, what was the message led, so tempted there was one!

The whole switching crewmembers for aliens thing was a bad idea. It was essentially passive. Nobody had to do anything but escort the new aliens to the holodeck, or cargo bay, or wherever the balls they were made to hang out. Then we're watching Voyager's crew just standing around in the alien's holodeck, once they were captured. Then it's wandering corridors until Janeway finds a convenient console that controls everything and was left unguarded. Then It's Tom & B'Elanna hiding in the ice tunnel and wandering in there.

This is the kind of script someone would write, when they're on the shitter. As I say, though, the stuff with Tom & Torres was OK ... not brilliant, but it stood out against that sort of passive backdrop so much that their banter seems that much more interesting. But even that is stuff you could just make up, on the fly. "You're scared to death of having a friend!" "If being my friend is such a problem for you, then why keep trying?" I mean ... anybody could write this shite ...

I think it had some good parts. Obviously I like the Tom and B'Elanna parts. But I also liked how they encountered a computer that they couldn't use right away. They had to figure out how to translate it.

I tend to not like episodes of anything when someone is accused of something they haven't done or in the case of Prey.. I just plain felt sad for the creature. Seven in all her human beauty was more protected as a lone individual freed from its hated collective. The lone member of Species 8472 was not and it was going to suffer at the hands of bullies. Yeah why am I revisiting that?

However it reminds me I didn't like Seven in Retrospect either. She got someone killed in that too.

I won't challenge you for liking the episode, but I must say ... I'm surprised to find that "Unforgettable" failed to find favour in your eyes. It's a romance, for one thing. Of what women Chakotay did have during VOYAGER's seven year run, Kellin was the most beautiful, by far. Pity about the hair, contact lenses and earlobes, though. Otherwise, she was the perfect match for Chakotay ... and their love grew. Over and over again. The ending could've been better, but you know what they say: "Tis better to have Loved & Lost ..."

Least favorite episodes (in order of season): "Time and Again", "The Thaw", "Favorite Son", "Unforgettable", "Nothing Human", "Spirit Folk", "Inside Man", and "Human Error." There are others which I dislike all or parts of, but these eight are mostly for me just bad, for various reasons (JMO of course). PS Dishonorable mentions: "Threshold" (though the 1st half wasn't too bad), and some of "Endgame."

I'm interested in the episodes that don't inspire a rewind. I just appreciate a little synopsis because it is so hard to remember just by title. So 'Fight' was mentioned and a brief reference of what it was about.. yes, it was a little mystic/try hard. As for 'Unforgettable' .. I remember! Actually that was okay for me. She was beautiful too.

I would rather watch The Fight than Retrospect. The only thing I didn't like was Chakotay boxing. The bad gene thing intrigued me except we see mental illnesses on the show where dna wasn't shut off so I am not sure what to make of this approach.

I won't re-watch Retrospect, Innocence, Rise, half of season two or three and come to think of it, six. And yet I have undying loyalty to this show.

Threshold. Paris and Janeway become salamanders and mate. Utterly ridiculous. It was the only one that stands out to me that I didn't enjoy at all because I was so ticked off and insulted by the end. Hands down the worst episode by far.

FURY was the worst episode in my book, I think Kes should have been left alone, the way we saw her in THE GIFT.

There is usually one episode in each season which is not a particular favourite of mine, except Season Two. I enjoy all the episodes there (and before you ask, yes, this includes THRESHOLD, I like that episode). The ones that I’m not that keen on include EMANATIONS, THE CHUTE (these two were too dark for VOY but they would have done very well on DS9, I think), then RETROSPECT (whatever the idea was with this episode it did not come across), THE DISEASE and of course, ENDGAME (I enjoy it as a story but Admiral Janeway contradicted everything that Captain Janeway had stood for).

Having said that, the whole end of Season Six is a bit boring. MUSE, LIVE FAST AND PROSPER and especially THE HAUNTING OF DECK TWELVE. This latter one usually makes me fall asleep.

Having said that, I never skip episodes. They belong to VOY, they are part of the story. So even now that I am watching the show for the 36th time, I never skip the ones I mentioned above. They are not unwatchable … just not as good as the rest of the show.

The worst episode of all is that insulting piece of s**t in season 6 which also happens to be the worst ever in any TV series, the one where they destroyed a main character and insulted the fans of that character.

Other episodes I don't like are "The Gift", "Endgame" and "Mortal Coil". I must also admit that I've never watched "Homestead" but I don't think I would like it.

You may actually like it. It's a lovely goodbye to him. He gets a great send off and settles into a life he will enjoy
