Lazer Team is a pretty funny sci fi comedy from Rooster Teeth Productions. Thought I'd mention it here because the poster looks like some kids' generic knockoff Power Rangers thing, but it's actually for the Gen Xer set. If you liked Space Milkshake or Hot Tub Time Machine, you might like this one. Echoes of Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Mars Attacks, Blues Brothers and The Watch, (on a smaller scale). Snappy, web-savvy dialogue and slick FX. Well-paced, a good energy, good, natural chemistry among the players. It hasn't rewritten any books on plot, and there are no big surprises, but it's a fun ride. The laughs are dumb written smart (not smart written dumb). Plus a cameo by Neil deGrasse Tyson!
Not a big movie - smaller than the ones I mentioned, but it is slick and polished and punches above its weight. I expected to be disappointed, but my expectations were disappointed! You can fault the tropes but the movie hit exactly where it was aiming - like a lazer, dude. And that's not something you can say about a lot of productions, especially ones that confuse offensive for funny. This one doesn't make you want to eat your own young, (unlike Kick Ass).
