Law and Order: Criminal Intent Thread

There are like two threads about Law and Order, but they are talking about specific things within the franchise. So, I'm going to start one specifically on the Criminal Intent...especially since we've recently had a two-parter that introduced Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Barrows....asthenew leads for the show.

I have thoughts about the two-parter, but I'm going to wait until I get some thoughts from others...(Too, I'm kinda doing a million things at once, and I have like two meetings I have to go to; I'm also kinda pissed.....so my focus is somewhat elsewhere).:shifty:

Anywho, getting back on topic: Did you like the two-part episode? Feeling good about the two new leads? What are your favorite L&O shows?

Can't say I'm excited about Saffron Burrows (never thought I'd say THAT  ) but at least Goren and Eames went out on a high note. Too bad, though - Eames would have made a great Captain!

And, strangely enough, I actually thought the government had a good plan! Embed GPS devices in weapons which would be smuggled to terrorists, who could then be eliminated. Of course this would never work IRL, because those weapons could be used to kill people.

I'm a Mothership fan, but I used to watch Criminal Intent when it was on NBC. The plot last night was all over the place (did I miss how it was explained that Saffron Burrows was Goldblum's new partner? What happened to his partner Wheeler?) but the ending with Goren and Eames was emotional. I only wish more screen time was given to the two of them instead of the newbies. I'm sure D'Onofrio and Erbe fans will feel short-changed by their last episode.

Can't say as I'll watch anymore with this new cast...:(

so for those of us not too worried about spoilers and wondering when these new eps will be shown in Canada how did they go out?

They never did say what happened to Wheeler. AFAIK, the last episode she appeared in, she was about to give birth, so she's probably on maternity leave.

The episode didn't introduced Jeff Goldblum, he's been around for the last season.

I thought it was all handed horrible, the exits, everything. I felt they were rather bad episodes.

Jeff Goldblum is awesome, he is great in the role and everything else he does. Saffron Barrows sucks in her role and everythnig else she does. i can't tell but her accent is annoying and I don't know how she really talks but she is just annoying.

Well...
Eames was given the option to become Captain; her first order of business was to fire Goren, due to his pursuit of Captain Ross' killers (a plot which involved the FBI). Eames eventually turned in her badge because she couldn't bear to work while Goren was let go...

Of course, others can extrapolate....;)

However, I can understand if some might have thought the two (or three, if you count Captain Ross) might have gone out on a sour note.

I've kept trying to get into Criminal Intent, but I just never could. Goren annoyed the shit out of me, but I liked it when Chris Noth came back. Except I could never remember which weeks he was on. But I liked it when they added Eric Bogosian (big fan of his stage work) to the cast. And much as I like Goldblum, Nichols is just warmed-over Raines without the "I see dead people" thing.

I thought of Raines myself, when Goldblum was cast. Still, I want to see how he mixes the 'Goldblum persona' with his character on CI.

She's from London.

I couldn't tell if she could do a British accent well on Boston Legal or an American accent badly.

No on CI she is supposed to be an American I take it and she can't pull that off, they should have just made her British.

I'm still wondering why they just don't have her do her natural accent. Linus Roache, who is also British, doesn't use his accent on Law & Order.

They did what to Captain Ross?

Ugh!

Sorry, I have not seen the two episodes yet, but they are on my DVR.

Does anyone know if Eric wanted to leave the show, or was he cut loose like Vincent and Kathryn?

I have a feeling I'll miss Wheeler. :shifty:

I LOVE Criminal Intent, and aside from nuBSG, think it's one of the finest-acted and well-written shows out there. I'm still waiting to see the final episode with Goren and Eames, but I like ALL the detectives just fine, but my favorite would be Goren, and then Logan, because just like Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Noth is an absolutely outstanding actor.

L&O: CI died for me after Noth left. I just couldn't care anymore. And I couldn't warm to Goldblum's character.

I think I have two favorite Noth episodes... the first is the one where he shot the other NYPD cop by accident... the Whoopi Goldberg episode. The other is the episode where he got into that huge fight with the FDNY.

I watched all of last season and I have to say that I only liked three episodes out of the whole lot. I'll have to catch the character exits though.

I agree, but I think that Goldblum is as well. Don't mind Burrows either, I think she's playing a little more of a straight man for Nichols and it works well.

I'm excited especially since Jeff plays the character much differently from VDO, even though it's clear that they are both playing smart as hell detectives.

That's what I'm saying, what difference does it make? This is a L&O after all, most of the the characters don't matter, only that week's story does. Just make her British so she can worry about her "acting" overall.

I'm a huge CI fan, especially of Vincent D'Onofrio's Goren. I was very sadden when I first heard that D'Onofrio was going to leave. However I expected something way better then this two parter to be his characters swan song. I would have much preferred if his character would have been killed. Have him go out fighting, instead of just acquiescing. The whole two parter seamed cobbled together and they had no read idea what to do.

I never thought I'd say this, but it's unfortunate that Nicole Wallace is already dead. She and Goren should have killed each other. :p
