latest DVD purchases

During Circuit City's buy-one-get-one-free sale on select Blu-Ray titles from Disney and Sony, I bought Enemy of the State, The Lookout, Robocop and We Are Marshall. Obviously Robocop and Marshall aren't Disney or Sony titles, but Circuit City screwed up had had EVERY HI DEF TITLE (including HD-DVD) $29.99 and under qualify for this deal.

Been awhile since I bought anything on DVD, but the other night, I saw that a Hollywood Video was goin' out of business, and bought Battlestar Galactica, Season Two 2.0 - Discs Two & Three and Stargate Atlantis - Rising (the pilot episode single disc) for only $2.99 each. The nuBSG DVDs were for me, since I couldn't find 'em to rent when I was in Charlotte and the SGA DVD is for the guy I'm stayin' with, since he's a fan of Robert Patrick.

I got a ton of stuff today. First, I got Transformers (2007), Doctor Who - Season 1, and Doctor Who - Season 2 in the mail. Then I went shopping to Austria and I picked up Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Live Free or Die Hard, and The Prestige on Blu-ray. :D

Bought the first three seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer--for only 20 bucks CDN each. Of course, it's a marketing ploy designed to suck me in and buy seasons 4-7 at around 30-35 bucks CDN each. And their ploy will most likely work on me.

October's Purchases were:

Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy Volumes 1-3 with Artbox

Black Lagoon-discs 2 (Limited edition) (may have to look elsewhere for this, given Geneon's current troubles I'm guessing it might be difficult to get hold of now)

Blade Runner 5-disc set

After weeks of thinking about making the jump to HD DVD with a $200 Toshiba HD-A2, I'm glad I didn't. I got an email today from Amazon advertising this special: Toshiba HD-A3 for $197 with 300 and The Bourne Identity HD DVD's packed in PLUS a choice of 3 free HD DVD's from their list of 12 or so PLUS another 5 free HD DVD's via mail-in coupon. The latest Toshiba HD DVD player plus 10 free movies for only $197! I even get free shipping. I could not resist. It arrives Monday. :D

This offer should be available to anyone.

I'm slowly working my way towards owning every Christopher Walken film ever. I'm kinda halway there, got about 50 so far. Latest additions were Search & Destroy, and All American Murder.
The other day I got Scam, but that was on VHS. It was actually surprisingly good, for a b-movie.

Truth be told, most Walken films are awful. I've no idea why I'm even doing this.

^ Too bad we don't get offers like that here in Europe.

Toshiba seems to offering the 5 free movies deal in Europe too. It's not an Amazon offer. Some of Toshiba's players also come with the 2 pack-in movies so, depending on which model you buy, you can get as many as 7 free movies straight from Toshiba.

I got The X-Files - The Complete Collector's Edition. Amazon UK had it at a great pre-release special price. The special proved to be short-lived, so I'm jazzed that I pre-ordered it and snagged it at such a bargain.

Also, it was my birthday last Sunday and I got American Gothic, The Prestige, Unforgiven, Tron, and the first four seasons of Magnum, P.I.
