I got Star trek Picard Rogue Elements by John Jackson Miller. The Star Gazer series by Michael Jan Friedman are good books. I reread them awhile back .I wished there had been a few more books in the series. One of my favorites was how Picard and Guinan meet for the first time.
Huge thanks to @Markonian who told me about the cover of an issue of the German sci-fi novel series which featured a "Star Trek" parody by Claudia Kern. And then sent me one when I couldn't find one online! A highlight of Sydney's Lockdown. (Been inside since the end of June and about a month still to go.) "Nach eigenen Regeln" ("By Their Own Rules", Maddrax #44, released in 2001) was set in a post-apocalyptic North America, centuries after a comet impact. The protagonists come across a valley where the descendants of Trekkies continue to live by the rules of a "Star Trek" RPG. (The Maddrax title was published biweekly in pulp booklet format by Bastei-Lübbe.) "Nach eigenen Regeln", Maddrax #44 by Ian McLean, on Flickr
New Star Trek stuff by Ian McLean, on Flickr Still in Lockdown in Sydney. My local stores are able to post me my stuff, but it's definitely not the same as buying in person. Latest arrivals: "Ships of the Line" Calendar for 2022; a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" novel, "Shadows Have Offended" (Gallery Books) by Cassandra Rose Clarke; IDW's "Star Trek: Voyager" graphic novel omnibus, "Seven's Reckoning"; and (unlicensed) DS9 and VGR print-on-demand trivia books. There seems to be quite an explosion of unlicensed Trek stuff on Amazon's print-on-demand at the moment. I bought these more out of curiosity. Essentially, they are fanzines in slick covers. (The completist in me must resist!)
IDW "Year Five", Issue #24 by Ian McLean, on Flickr Issue #24 of IDW's "Star Trek: Year Five" (and TMP-rainbow-inspired alternate cover). (The Efrosian President of ST VI pops up in this story. Did someone forget the human ST IV President, or did the Efrosian have a previous term we didn't know about?)
I considered that. I did like the irony in ST VI - with everyone being racist about Klingons, yet many people in the audience were wondering why the UFP President looked rather Klingon himself.
New Trek stuff by Ian McLean, on Flickr Titan's "Star Trek Villains"; Eaglemoss/HeroCollector's "Galaxy Quest: The Inside Story"; IDW's "Star Trek: Year Five" issue #25; a new, revised edition of "The Star Trek Book"; and IDW's "The Mirror War" issue #0. New Trek shelf I left on the shelf by Ian McLean, on Flickr IDW's facsimile reprint of DC's "Star Trek: Debt of Honor" graphic novel by Chris Claremont; and alternate covers for "Star Trek: Year Five" issue #25 and "The Mirror War" issue #0. More new Trek stuff by Ian McLean, on Flickr Eaglemoss/HeroCollector's "Designing Starships: Deep Space 9 and Beyond" (contains TMP's Klingon ship and Starfleet's Orbital Office Complex) and the updated, revised "Starfleet Ships: 2294 - The Future"; plus IDW's "The Mirror War" issue #1.
Dark Mirror by Diane Duane is a great read. I re-read it again a few months ago and William Shatner's novel with the Reeves -Steevens is a real interesting story too.
I have a soft spot for the Shatner novels. They get increasingly bonkers, but I especially like The Return and parts of the Mirror Universe trilogy. We'll see how it goes with this prequel.
