Latecomer To This: JANEWAY DIED?!?

Ahh, then I guess we just disagree on what's funny, but I might be colored by the fact that I rather like the character. I'm sure I'd find it a hell of a lot more funny if I didn't.

Oh for crying out loud, people. Get a sense of humor, or at least realize the distinction between goofy jokes and real "bashing."

I was just going to say the same. Well not exactly the same, but something similar :rommie:

Who put the tag: "eaten by a floor" as she wasn't, it was a wall!

Don't you mean 'your sense of humor'? ;)

If all the Militant Janeway fans would actually bother to participate in the TrekLit forum beyond the Janeway related threads, they would see that here goofy jokes are made about everything.

So as much as they like to take everything as a part of a bigger anti-Janeway movement, sometimes a joke is nothing more than a joke.

ETA: Obviously I missed that the thread already had moved to another page.

Kirk is my favorite character, but I'm the first one to break out the Kirk/Shatner jokes. I'm also the first one to break out the jokes about how a guy my age can still hold up as a hero the guy he watched on a B/W TV 40 years ago.

There's a lesson in there somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it.

Hey, I like the character of Kathryn Janeway myself. I just take very little seriously - in fact, my personal philosophy is 'Don't take life so seriously. It's not like you get out of it alive.' Besides, how many people who like the character of Kirk make fun of him on a regular basis?

Hell, Kirk is my favorite character and this did not stop me from making a "Captain on the bridge...oops! I mean, bridge on the captain" joke after Generations.

You really should. It's my favorite of the shows by far and I'd be interested in your take on it. It gets far better after the first season.

Semah, this statement only confirms my suspicion that you are way cool.

Not to mention that one!

Why, thank you :)

How can you expect people instantly understand your own little sense of humor in online discussion, if they have no pervious experience having any conversations with you? And people react differently on different things. Some are more serious than others. Tolerance should run both ways. ;)

Lynx, you have GOT to try DS9. It is by FAR the best Trek series

from there - move on to the DS9 post-finale novels - you won't regret it!:bolian:

He'd like it until they kill off one of his favorite characters. So perhaps it's best for him to just stick with safe shows where nobody ever gets killed and everyone lives happily ever after.

Kevin

True enough. All the other discussions of Zombie Janeway have been so earnest, it's easy to understand the confusion.

I still say Zombie Janeway is an interesting direction to take the character, just think about it Trek has done characters that were dead before but they have never done a character that was living dead before.

If we made jokes about every character except the female captains, we'd be accused of being sexist for leaving Janway out of the fun. ;)
