Last two seasons... the worst?

I think the first half of season 6 was good;Blink of an Eye, One Small Step, Barge of the Dead, Pathfinder and more. The only second half episode that I really liked was "Muse."

Season 7 was probably my least favorite. Workforce was pretty entertaining, and I loved Body and Soul. Flesh and Blood was ok, too. Outside of that I don't think there are any episodes from the last season that I particularly enjoy.

Edited to add:

Enterprise: It's kind of ironic that Enterprise probably had the best final season. At least as compared to its previous seasons.

TNG: Unlike most people, I think the last season is pretty good. Maybe a slight dip in quality but there are several very good episodes.

DS9: I think they had run out of ideas outside of the (excellent) war story line. The standalone episodes were very weak in the final year.

TOS: There are a handful of decent episodes in the last season. mainly at the beginning.

Interesting … for me, Season 6 and 7 felt tired too!
I had the feeling, they changed Voyager to a „Janeway, Seven, Doctor Show“. Of course they were great characters, but the rest of the crew was faded into the background. And after watching „Endgame“, I wanted to throw shoes at the TV (and I still do)!

But it's still my favourite series! :techman:

It's kind of Interesting. I've heard people say that TNG's most solid season, where every episode is "running on all cylinders" is season 4.

On the epilogue podcast on YouTube(DS9 in order episode podcast), they say every episode of season 4 is good, that there are no clunkers.

And "ruminations" guy on YouTube, who does every episode on Voyager, says the the same thing about VOY's 4th season.

They say our bodies age in 7 year cycles(some say 8 or 9, too). and with our bodies, also our brain chemistry, and even social interactions. If this could in some way be applied to a TV show with 7 seasons, then maybe the fourth really is where a show peaks.

TNG didn't set out to 7 seasons, but DS9, VOY, and ENT knew before the shows started that it was a seven year gig. I wonder what we'd think if TNG, DS9, or Voyager were cut off at season 4.

I never watched season 7, except for "Endgame".
Season 6 is horrible.
I feel like you just feel that way because Kes isn't in the show anymore. You seem like you're only watching the show for Kes otherwise you would have watched all of it

They're all online now maybe you should give them a try. There are some excellent episodes ;)
Sorry not got much interest. By then it had become the Seven on Nine Show with Janeway and the EMH as her sidekicks. Whilst I like Seven in small doses, and really liked Janeway at the beginning, the EMH is my least favourite character of all. Characters like Tuvok and Torres (my favourites) always seem forgotten about.

Well I can point out some torres episodes. There are a good amount of them in the last two seasons

The last two seasons I believe are truly where the "plots that go nowhere" fan complaint comes from:
***
JANEWAY: They're (Vaadwaur) a resourceful species, determined. They'll adapt. I doubt we've seen the last of them.
***
Actually, we have. We never see them again.
Oh, and the Unimatrix Zero Borg revolution? We never hear about that again, either.
Another problem is the show had become completely episodic. At least previous seasons had mini arcs with recurring villains (Kazon, Hirogen, Malon), but instead seasons 6 and 7 would come up with an interesting baddie or plot line, promise they'll get back to it, and never deliver. The "reset button" if you will was pushed harder than ever before.

Here are the season 7 episodes and who the featured characters are. I'll put major supporting characters in the story in parentheses.

  1. -
  2. Imperfection: Seven & Icheb
  3. Drive: Tom & B'elanna
  4. Repression: Tuvok(with some Chakotay)
  5. Critical Care: EMH
  6. Inside Man: Barclay(and Troy)
  7. Body & Soul: Seven(as the EMH, or vice versa. and Ensign Kim)
  8. Nightingale: Ensign Kim(with a dash of Seven.)
  9. Flesh & Blood: EMH(and B'elanna)
  10. Shattered: Chakotay(and Janeway)
  11. Lineage: B'elanna(and Tom)
  12. Repentance: Ensemble with much focus on Neelix and Seven
  13. Prophecy: B'elanna
  14. The Void: Janeway
  15. Workforce: Janeway and Chakotay( with focus on Tom, B'elanna, Tuvok, and Seven. Also Kim and ECH)
  16. ---
  17. Human Error: Seven(and Chakotay)
  18. Q2: Janeway & Q(and Icheb)
  19. Author, Author: EMH(and Tom, and Janeway)
  20. Friendship One: Tom, (Neelix and Janeway)
  21. Natural Law: Chakotay & Seven(and Tom)
  22. Homestead: Neelix(and some nice moments from Tuvok)
  23. Renaissance Man: EMH & Janeway
  24. Endgame: Janeway
Some episodes are more "ensemble" than others, and every cast member appears in all, but this is more who the episode focused on the most, who "learned a lesson" or who had the most lines and most important lines.

I'll do one for season 6 when I have a chance.

I love this. As anyone can clearly see those who say it became the Janeway Seven and EMH show are not really correct. Every character gets some focus

Heck, I just did it anyway.

Again it does seem like a good mix. Pretty much everyone got some focus

Yeah, Seven is undeniably prominent throughout the show, but It's more so in season's 4 & 5, where she has her fair share of focus episodes AND a few where she "learns a lesson about humanity" in someone else's character focus episode, like in "The Disease," an episode about Kim. At the end, Seven learns that love "really isn't like a disease." And they do some interesting things with Seven in the last two seasons. From season 4, Janeway and Seven have a Mother/Daughter dynamic, whereas in the later seasons, Seven becomes a mother figure. And she seems really matures from it.

There are also many story arcs in the last two seasons. A big one is the Barclay/Pathfinder storyline. Barclay appears in 6 episodes of Voyager. 5 of those are in season 6 & 7. He's more a VOY character than a TNG one now.

Another one is the holographic freedom story arc. Episodes included in this are Virtuoso, Lifeline, Tinker, Tenor..., Body and Soul, Flesh n' Blood, Author, Author, and Renaissance Man.

-Then there's the Borg Children story arc.

-A follow-up and conclusion to the Q arc.

-A follow up and conclusion to the hirogen arc.

-A forward progression of the Tom/B'elanna romance.(They get married, they get pregnant, etc.)

-There's the episode "Shattered" which is almost like a clip show but awesome, and takes us back through all those crazy times over the last seven years.

So there's definitely more plot threads going on on s6&7 than in middle 3, or maybe even the first 2.

I didn't enjoy seasons 1 & 2. The last two were OK... some real lemons, but also a couple of gems.

Characters like Tuvok and Torres (my favourites) always seem forgotten about.

Two of my favorite B'Elanna episodes can be found in season six, "Barge of the Dead" and "Muse."

And even if someone isn't a fan of Voyager in particular, I think that almost anyone who is a fan of Star Trek will enjoy episodes like Blink of an Eye and One Small Step.

I didn't care much for the Doctor oriented stories. As they focused on his narcissistic tendencies. I also didn't like the Seven of Nine/Chakotay storyline, as they had no chemistry and it was OOC for her.

Inddeed For my part, I began to dislike the character of the Doctor at this time, not finding him funny anymore.
As for Seven/Chakotay. I keep saying that it was a ridiculous storyline and above all, it was detrimental to both characters (cf the way each of them was introduced to the way they behaved at the end). I can understand that it became a necessity to find an occupation to Beltran (Chakotay) in order not to make him the ‎one left behind at the end but, using Ryan (Seven) to do that, was quite insulting to her acting talents (especially when we know what, she was able to do), IMHO.

I liked the Borg children arc, but I wished they'd kept Mezoti. I can see why the twin boys were written out, as they never got more than a word or two of dialogue, but Mezoti could have provided some storylines with her and Naomi. And in Child's Play, Mezoti was so fervent about remaining on Voyager that she told Seven that she hoped they never found her parents, so it made absolutely no sense for her to want to go with the two boys, as she never seemed close to them, and had even tattled on them when they'd cheated at Kadis-Kot.

And Icheb? For the most part, they wrote him as Wesley Crusher.2
