Last movie you saw?

Last week I saw a new Robert Redford movie. The Old Man and the Gun. Based on a true story about a bank robber who charmed his way to stealing money and had quite a streak before eventually getting captured. A comedy/drama starring Redford and Sissy Spacek who made for a great pairing. Movie was filmed on film, I believe and has that whole retro film grain thing going on which is appropriate for it being set in the 80's. So, as far as things go, it actually feels like it fits into his older catalogue of movies from that time period. They even have a short bit with a younger CGI'd Redford. All in all, nothing groundbreaking per se, but a comfortable movie if you like that sort of thing. I liked it quite a bit.

Last night I watched Outlaw King on Netflix last night. Pretty good movie. Definitely poured quite a bit of money into the movie's budget; very good production values. Not sure about Chris Pine as the lead; didn't seem to carry the film like I would have expected him to. All in all, I was entertained and it held my attention. Worth while.

Was kind of bored last night so I decided to watch Avengers: Infinity War for probably the 3rd. time. Movie holds up well for what it is - Summer action popcorn flick. Still bothered by the writing for 'StarLord', comes off as a childish ass, especially when they almost have the gauntlet of Thanos' hand. Mild character assassination due to writing that could have used another polish pass. All in all fun, looking forward to Part 2.

After the Wedding.... one type of film that I rarely, if ever, tend to watch but my mom rec'd it since she knows I'm trying to focus on Nordic films this month. She said it was good and done in a "non-cheesy" manner and she was right.
It's also the first film I've seen Mads Mikkelsen in where he wasn't playing a killer, drug dealer, or some other unsavory type:

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. I'm meh on it. Hyped up a lot, but for me, it's the very definition of average at best. Six short stories all told in the Old West. The problem is that it's very much a mixed bag in terms of story quality and it's for that reason that it makes it hard to rate as everyone would get something different out of it. At most, I found two of the stories watchable. But again, maybe that changes for someone else.

I agree. Really sweet movie. They've done a really great job on that one and wonderfully captured the personalities.

Without spoiling anything, do the stories somehow tie together, or are they completely independent of each other?

Completely independent. So, when one ends, another starts via a book that flips to the next story. It would have been nice for a certain musical character to sing about these stories in some form of narration as part of things he's heard and seen, but it never happens that way. Kind of a one-and-done deal for all of them. And seeing as they're all very much of varying quality, it never seems to gather any kind of momentum and even leaves you hanging by the end.
