Last movie you saw?

Citizen Kane (1941). Intriguing and interesting, and the best on-screen portrayal of a narcissist I've seen in a long time. This movie pretty much pioneered non-linear storytelling and the age makeup wasn't bad for the period.

Last night on HBO it was Ad Astra. VFX were decent enough, though they took serious liberties with gravity and other science bits. The moon surface buggy chase looks decent enough but everyone is just walking along normally in the moon base? Same thing with Mars. Bugs the shit out of me. Pacing was a slog and the story was fairly boring at the end. Glad I didn't pony up $$ to see this in theaters. Fine fare for HBO and the like, but that's about it... 5/10

Before I Fall was a movie with a premise that interested me, but not enough to seek it out until it appeared on Netflix this week.

I really did not like the ending and didn't find it satisfactory. I don't think it leaves the characters where it thinks it's leaving them. Other than a strong lead performance from Zoey Deutch, this is a pretty empty and underwritten movie.

"Be Water," a documentary about Bruce Lee. Really interesting stuff--less about the films and more about who he was as a person.

Ad Astra, or at least part of it. Visually impressive, but the physics and the logic behind some of the things sink it for me and it didn't keep my attention.

Have to agree. They seemed to have great artistic direction, but when it came to executing it, they took great liberties in order to tell their story, to hell with physics! There are so many things about it that rubbed me the wrong way. It felt more like space was merely a backdrop for their story. It had promise, but it was so disappointing. I would go so far to say that it's not very much of a Sci-fi. Interstellar and Gravity, this is not.

"Donnie Brasco"
Saw it tonight for first time in years
Great movie, Depp in fine form, and Pacino hadn't started shouting every line of dialogue yet
