Eh, Blue Cross/Blue Shield was what I was on but they denied my coverage multiple times.

Technically it wasn't 'lying' but we kind of bent the truth a little...and left somethings out that weren't technically problems or things we forgot about

NOT a good idea. I am sure your denials were based on that, if they have your previous claim history which they have access to. I hope they come after you for attempted fraud.

It's all about your medical history.
When I started setting up my private insurance with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, it was $42 a month. Then I told them I took 2 oral meds for blood pressure and 2 oral meds for diabetes.

My next response from them stated that my rate would be adjusted slightly to $477 a month, and it would be 80/20. Also, I would have to pay a very large deductible, and my insurance could be canceled at any time without any prior explanation. So it would be like throwing the dice every time I went to pick up my medication, which would still cost me well over $100 a month. They referred me to someone else when I told them I couldn't pay that kind of money per month. A subsidiary of BCBS, and they were the ones that rejected me. When I went back to BCBS directly, they went ahead and rejected me also.

$477 was the cheapest price I could find for private insurance.

Lobby your representatives to have insurance companies cover pre-existing conditions. They do here in Mass. I'm sure it adds a little to the cost but ours doesn't seem any higher than prices I've seen in this thread.

And the way the U.S economy is going it wouldn't suprise me if the only thing being dumped faster than workers is company health plans.

Seems that the current economic situation is starting to change a few Republican minds on health care issues. Seems they are loosing jobs and suddenly finding out just how much health insurance in the U.S costs (assuming they are able to get it).

except that at moment you'll find that employers are getting rid of talented help not taking it on.

It's a huge burden on business and they will be looking to cut costs anyway they can (and if businesses start dropping health cover left and right, then no one has the incentive and at the moment I think you'll find people are just happy to have a job).

In fact I believe there was a thread in TNZ that U.S automakers were looking tow wind back if not get rid of altogether heatlh benefits for employees and that was well before the shit started to hit the fan economically.

Dude, I have conditions that even specialists have never ever seen and I had to go to specialists doctors that we've forgotten about because they said simply they can't fix it and that was that. So why keep records on that stuff? Plus in 20 years, the stuff they knew then pales to what they know now. Hell in fact, the condition in my arm could be a thesis paper for a doctor, that's how rare of a condition it is.

No, my mom doesn't know my history. We either thrown some of that stuff out or can't get it. I had a leg problem that they thought would clear up when I got older but oops, they were wrong. The records are gone because we didn't think it was going to be a problem after a few years but then they realized they had it wrong and that my leg was a problem.

It's funny that the right to life is being trumped by the rights of capitalism. If the insurance companies didn't short cut anyone, we wouldn't have a problem.
