Largest coronal mass ejection in five years... auroras a comin'

K index is currently 5 over Australia and New Zealand, which is a visible event. Another clear sky tonight. Come on!!

Absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, it was really foggy down here two nights in a row, so even if it were possible to see the aurora from Toronto (we're probably too far south), I wouldn't have seen anything. Hell, I couldn't even see the building across the courtyard from my condo last night, and the only thing I could see of the street one block north of me was the stoplight on the corner.
 
Yeah, that's definitely understandable. To be fair though, we hardly saw anything though. We happened to be out doing an astrophotography session, and we saw the faint glow of an aurora and we decided to shoot it and we only saw the colours after the fact. So, it was more knowing what to look for and recognizing it as an aurora. They can be easy to miss otherwise.
