The Jedi's of the movies wouldn't stand a chance. A single Jedi of The Old Republic who could cause entire armies to flee with a thought would own all those green boy scouts.

Ah, but the force gives you power over the weak minded. Green Lanterns are chosen because of their willpower and ability to overcome great fear. The Earth GLs alone (Hal, John, Kyle, and Guy) could take out the Jedi order.

True. But that's just one power. The ability to blow up a star with a wave of one's hand? The Ancient Jedi could do that. The ability to resurrect fallen comrades? They had that too. Kind of hard to fight and defeat an army that can't be killed. They had the power of Force Deflect, of which Yoda used a lesser version in Episode 3, that could absorb and redirect any type of energy. So Hal and Kyle could blast at them all day, but they wouldn't be able to do jack to them except get hit with their own beams. They had the ability to buff themselves up so much with The Force, they'd be walking invincible tanks. But most deadly of all, The Ancient Jedi had BATTLE MEDITATION. This little power, once used, had the ability fill all your allies with courage, determination, and skill. It had the opposite effect on your enemies as it depleted your will to fight. And it effected the strong minded and weak minded alike. So if the entire Green Lantern Corp went up against Darth Revan or The Exile, it would pretty much be over for them. They'd be double screwed if they went up against the Ancient Sith. Because their powers were far more deadly.

There's also this to ponder: The Force is infinite. The power supply on those rings are not.

Second, the yellow lightsaber would only work against novice Lanterns now, those who have not overcome fear.

Like Hal Jordan for 50 years?

The Jedi got taken down by some clones with guns.

The Jedi of the movies had become complacent, lazy, and arrogant. All of which breeds weakness and stupidity. They hadn't fought a real war or The Sith in a thousand years. They weren't warriors or soldiers anymore. They were diplomats and cops. So much of their combat techniques involving The Force had been lost or forgotten. The Ancient Jedi would taken Darth Sidious down before he even ran for Naboo Student Council.

The Green Lantern Corps would not be so easy to take down.

I'd read Emerald Twilight and get back to me on that.

All good points...but again, how many Jedi are really "THAT" powerful? Dukoo couldn't take down a star with a wave of a hand, nor could Yoda. In fact once you get past Yoda/Dukoo/ what do you have? A teenager-horny Anakin???

And some of these folks I am mentioning are SITHS, So I'm being nice by even allowing that...

So...how many Jedi's are in the upper scale? And if you can use the SITH then I can you Paralax, Sinestro and Alan Scott...

I just don't see the Jedi winning this. If they were matched up against the Cardassian military? Maybe...

Again, I'm talking about The Ancient Jedi, not the pathetic movie versions. Even Yoda and Palpatine pale in comparison to their power. The ones in the movies would get defeated in 5 minutes by The GLC.

Is this question serious? Guy Gardner could take out every one of the Jedis by himself, and I don't even like Guy Gardner.

::SPOILER!::

I actually read some issues of the green lanterns involving the character of krib (I think that's how he was spelled). Krib is this freakish monstrosity that's kidnapping offspring of Green Lantern couples. When an alien green lantern couple is saved and their child is safely delivered, the higher ups have just decided to denounce Green Lantern coupling and thus demand anyone couple in the corps surrender their rings.

So, what did they do? Did the husband get all upset about being robbed of power? Did he argue with the corps that he's being treated unfairly? Did he decide to go somewhere else to seek power? Does he take his anger out by murdering hundreds of innocent men, women and children in order to get his power back? Does the wife decide to give up on life and die only because her husband goes into a rage just after doing bad things?

No

Instead, both the husband and wife give their rings freely with no regrets and no second thoughts.

I think the lanterns come out on top. It was a hard decision though, as any quick thinking Jedi with decent control of telekinesis should be able to make short work of a Green Lantern.

While Lanterns are limited only by their willpower and imagination, effort still scales the same as it would for anyone else (big objects feel light, really big objects feel heavy). Jedis are limited by their willpower also, but have infinite effort to apply (all objects are light as a feather).

So the Jedi could throw everything in the room at the Lantern, or the Lantern at everything in the room. Or the ultimate dirt, a little concentration, and off comes the ring. (They still need their rings, right?)

Yeah, so potentially, a Jedi could mop the floor all day long with a Lantern. But as the average Jedi has been demonstrated throughout most Star Wars properties, it will almost certainly come out the other way around.

Why couldn't the Jedi use their telekinetic powers to steal the Lanterns' rings? Then where would they be? The Lanterns would be mere mortals and the Jedi would be Jedi+Lantern.

Aside from Yoda-Dukoo-Vader, the rest of the Jedi, including Obwan, don't seem that powerful at all...And I don't care how strong a Jedi is, I have seen Green Lanterns pick up cruise boats and drop them on people...Maybe yoda could stop it, but some of the others..I doubt it..

Lantern wins..IMO

yeah but my point was that you can't steal a Jedi's power, but a Lantern becomes powerless if the ring is lost. All a Jedi has to do is steal the Lantern's ring via telekinesis.

Some of them, like Yoda, maybe. But how many Jedi could really do that? And if the lantern put their bubble shields up, could the ring be taken? I don't know...

Lanterns can fly, they can become invisible, they can do so many things with those rings..all the jedis have is a sabre and their mind powers. Didn't seem to help them that much against those clones and droids who almost beat them...

I mean, look at Obwan and Quigon running, RUNNING, from the droid forces in PHANTOM MENANCE. One lantern, maybe two, could have stopped that invading force...but they ran and barely got saved by JAR JAR. In fact they have to beg JAR JAR's people to join their cause to storm one castle on some dumpy world...

I am not impressed..

Rob

Well, you're referring to Jedi in the live-action films. They were seen as much more powerful in the Clone Wars cartoons on Cartoon Network leading up to Episode III. There, Mace Windu destroyed 1000s of battle droids by himself and Yoda destroyed entire fleets of star ships by ramming them into each other simply with the clap of his hands. IIRC, Lanterns have always had the freedom of not being live-action.
