Did the Green Lanterns ever free slaves?

Trillions. Why?
As I stated in my last post, I just needed something to compare and contrast these two.

Since the Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice to the whole freaking galaxy, you would think that slavery would be a big no-no for them under any circumstance. Unfortunately for reasons that are never addressed or talked about, they don't seem to think it's a problem. Trade disputes, tax evasions and border issues? THOSE are issues a Jedi is meant to handle.

Guardians of Peace and Justice my aunt phanny.

Sorry..I do get what you mean now and you and I are %100 in agreement...

The Jedi's of the movies wouldn't stand a chance. A single Jedi of The Old Republic who could cause entire armies to flee with a thought would own all those green boy scouts.

Ah, but the force gives you power over the weak minded. Green Lanterns are chosen because of their willpower and ability to overcome great fear. The Earth GLs alone (Hal, John, Kyle, and Guy) could take out the Jedi order.

The Jedi and the Green Lantern Corp might initially clash, and in that brief period the Green Lanterns would be whomping butt against everybody except Jedi Sentinels, who would be at least holding their own. But at some point, they would realize that their battle is a mistake (probably via the Jedis' empathic abilities), and combine to come and hunt down RobertScorpio for causing such a tragic misunderstanding.

Ultimate winner: Da Bears.

I have no problem with that, if in the movie version ROBERT SCORPIO (me) is played by Brad Pitt.

Didn't the Jedi only operate in the Republic or with issues that directly affect the Republic? I'm pretty sure Tatooine wasn't in the Republic in Episode 1, Greedo wouldn't take Qui-Gon's republic credits.

And besides there seemed to be a very small number of Jedi, I seriously doubt they could tackle every issue they they wanted to. Besides freeing slaves is more of a political issue, the Republic would need to get the government on board with it and get them to enforce the law.

The Jedi got taken down by some clones with guns. The Green Lantern Corps would not be so easy to take down.

Let's not forget that the Jedi are dumber than a box of nails.

Let's connect the dots, shall we? Obi-Wan discovers that Jango Fett, the bounty hunter involved with Amidala's assassination, is the host of all these Clone troopers that the Jedi did NOT authorize. Obi-Wan follows Jango Fett to the planet Geonosis where he uncovers Count Dooku and the separatist forces amassing an army against the republic. Obi-Wan also overhears Viceroy Gunrey asking if Dooku has taken care of assassinating Amidala yet, and he says he will make certain of it.

Ok. Viceroy just said he wants Amidala dead and he's enlisted Dooku for help. Jango Fett was there helping Zam do the job so clearly this means that Dooku is in league with the bad guys. So, Dooku is bad, Jango is bad, we have a planet making an army of Jangos that was not authorized by the Jedi or Republic, so what do the Jedi do?

They use the freaking clones!

Were the Green Lanterns that stupid?

Never..the Green Lanterns are just far more powerful than the Jedis. And let us not forget..how many of them are as powerful as DOOKU or YODA? The ones on the current cartoon are bunch of bafoons...and tell me that LUKE SKYWALKER, as bad ass as he was in JEDI, could even hold his own against Batman, let alone Hal Jordan..its not even close!!!

It isn't even that the Jedi thought that slavery was too big of a problem to tackle. Some of the Jedi owned slaves. In fact, slavery was so widely practiced in the Republic that there was an entire race of people with absolutely no rights, whose lives didn't even have any value in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of the Jedi, the Droids.
The clone troopers were probably also slaves, considering that they were purchased and they never had any choice in what to do.

The Jedi aren't Optimus Prime, they don't believe that freedom is the right of al sentient beings. There are clearly some that the Jedi consider to be inferior, due to their origins, who are naturally meant to be slaves.

I am not big into STAR WARS. But is what you're saying only in the books. And if so does Lucas allow that?

Then again, slavery is a common plot in all sorts of writing..so I guess its okay. But I personally wouldn't read it..

Just look at the way Jedi treat Droids in the Prequel movies, and in The Clone Wars. Droids are slaves, they just happen to be acceptable slaves because they're made out of metal and built in factories.
