seriously, people, you have no idea. what was that thread again about the producers wanting to discourage K/S by using the Spock/Uhura romance? was that writer serious? discourage? If JJ wanted to discourage K/S he would NOT be choosing these two guys for Kirk and Spock. he would also not be sending Pine and Quinto out TOGETHER for the PR packets. they went everywhere together!

JJ knows this is truly, TRULY catching lightening in a bottle twice. Quinto and Pine, besides being too beautiful for words, have explosive chemistry not only onscreen but also offscreen. it's a true bromance.

just check the K/S-centered stories on fanfiction.net -- they're threatening to overtake the Spock/Uhura stories in number AND in quality. K/S is here to stay. and JJ is pretty darned fine with it, I might venture to guess. it gets the butts in the theatre

The Japanese's excuse is they have a thing for unfinished beings.
The truth is a midlife Japanese man will spend a fortune on a 17- or 18-year-old girl, especially if she wears schoolgirl outfits, and many girls feel entitled to take advantage of that. (It doesn't exactly have to be sexual.) It's as much a cultural staple as the older bearded man - smooth-faced young man couple in ancient Greece.

Wow. An ex-colleague of mine lived in Japan for a half year - and he told me you could get school-girl white cotton type panties in vending machines!? I asked him how in the world he came by that information, and he said he saw those machines everywhere! Then there is the regular normal middle-aged ladies who dress like little girls, of course that happens everywhere, but we're talking mickey mouse t-shirts etc... I haven't seen this first hand, so I won't say it's gospel, but this shit happens - and it's perfectly ordinary and accepted.

Damn, I'm screwed. I don't look too good in minis or mickey mouse... I love and adore Tokyo fashion - as far as it's manifestation in London goes, in any case.

And Karl Urban was in my opinion the sexiest in the movie. I didn't recognize him from Chronicles of Riddick, by the way. He looked quite different. Less massive. Maybe because every man except the actor who played Chekov was tall and bulky in this cast.

Since I am secure in my masculinity and my sexual identification, and because I've had a similar discussion with my girlfriend, I'll play. Chris Pine is sexier as Kirk in the movie. However, Zachary Quinto out of make-up is a far sexier man than Pine.

^^Well that would be the reason why I would prefer Quinto (as a human). More unusual. Not to deny the appeal of classical beauty as in Armani ads. Although sometimes the models have striking features and it is the lighting and black and white that maintains classicism.
