Spoilers La'An - what's going to happen?

  • Thread starter Discovery McDiscoveryFace

M'Benga is shown on the Enterprise in TOS, he is just not CMO. SNW presents several reasons why he would be demoted.

True, but this doesn't mean that he couldn't first serve under Una as CMO, then get demoted and head back to the Enterprise for his TOS appearances. Just a possibility.

La'an and all the other SNW characters unseen in TOS got the death penalty for trying to visit Pike on Talos IV. M'Benga was the only one who refused to go along and went back to the Enteprise.

Why didn't Talosians protect them? Pike would have gotten them to make them a visit without Starfleet knowing about it.

Plenty of time to send him to "intern in a Vulcan ward" before returning to the ship. On Vulcan, he loses his accent. :rommie:
Accents are not permanent things.

Or, he steps away, interns, comes back to the Enterprise but CMO billet is filled.

You have multiple characters and the show is a drama. So, I figure one of the non-TOS characters die (Pelia?), one goes off in an unexpected direction (La'An, DTI?), and one goes off in an expected direction (Una, her own ship?).

Or some variation of the above.

In the clip from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4, Episode 2, "The Griffin Incident," La'an Noonien Singh (Christina Chong) hears a voice speaking to her about what she is. The voice tells her that she is not a Khan, a Romulan, or a monster, but "one of us" as the lights come up on some unusual-looking people.

In A Quality Of Mercy she was on Kirk's ship, and still very much in Starfleet. That would seem to be the most likely course for her.

Why is everyone here acting like M'Benga's going to intern in Vulcan in the future? SNW established that his residency at Vulcan as mentioned in TOS had already happened by the time of SNW.

Ok.

M'Benga leaves the ship for additional training, wants to come back but CMO billet is full. Since he wants to serve in the Enterprise he accepts a staff physician position.

Easy.

there are so many different theories about what happens to laan

1st one is how she time travels to the past again and then becomes a time cop

2nd one is how she gets seduced to the dark side of the khans and turns heel aka a super villian aka a bad person

3rd one is how she joins erica sam and una to become a crew of a new uss starship

Why not a demotion from the position of CMO? He has certainly done enough to warrant punitive measures if it all came to light and getting demoted down to staff doctor is a pretty light punishment but he has Pike defending him.

Is it not so unreasonable he never leaves the Enterprise but gets reduced in position?

Both are reasonable. I have no issues with either one.

M'Benga is recruited for a top secret ultra classified mission by Section 31. No one else is allowed to ask any questions about it.

During this timeframe, ridged Klingons become increasingly scarce in the galaxy, with only augment virus Klingons seen.

Any correlation with M'Benga's top secret mission is entirely coincidental.

Did they…I don’t remember that. Regardless, they can make up tons of reasons why Bones takes his spot as CMO.

When it comes to La’an, I think from a dramatic perspective it doesn’t make sense that all of the characters whose fate is a mystery will get a “happy” ending. My guess is La’an will be the one that gets stuck with the bad one. She’ll come full circle and accept her genetic heritage only to get killed randomly like Tasha or make the big heroic sacrifice to save the Enterprise.
