Kurtzman intentionally killed Legacy?

And for that, your face will go on the BBS Mount Rushmore. Well deserved.

Or buttcheeks. If Squiggy doesn't claim a copyright infringement.

My only regret of that entire scene, no: "That's Enterprise NX-01, Earth's first Warp 5 starship. The ship that spawned the Federation."

The digital model of the Refit was there, they just didn't spend any time focusing on it.
In all truth, being that the whole season is framed around the anniversary of the launch of the NX-01, she really should have been back at Earth and been the one launching out of Spacedock. Would've made more sense than the Enterprise-F.

But I will add that i'm kinda glad we didn't see her close up. I've never been much of a fan of the Refit, and the fact nobody pointed it out and specifically called her out as being the NX-01, means that in my head I can pretend that the real NX-01 was tucked safely away inside the museum, while the Refit NX Class we saw on the outside was the Endeavor, Atlantis, Challenger, or Discovery.

I’m almost certain that the NX-01 got zero focus because ‘Frontier Day’ was originally supposed to be the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Federation, when the year for season 3 was originally 2411 and not 2401. Everything just makes so much more sense that way.

Yep. That's exactly what I think happened. Why did they switched it? I can't thing of any good reason. EVERYTHING makes more sense in 2411.

I can’t think of a good reason either. But it’s probably the same logic that gave us the USS Enterprise-G rather than the USS Picard.

Someone who may have tuned into the show for the TNG reunion (without having watched S1) may well have wondered, "Why are they naming a ship after a living officer?"
