What I dislike the most is revisionism when it comes to the Berman era. I tried making that point with someone on twitter that even the Berman era was losing fans and that there were pretty vocal criticisms about how he ran the franchise back then, and this guy insisted I was wrong because "most fans love the Berman era", you know, in spite of the fact that the ratings were consistently slipping throughout the 90s and 2000s, with ENTERPRISE getting cancelled after losing 10 million viewers.

But no, him and many other seem to have bought into this rose tinted narrative that the 1966-2005 years was a "golden era" for Trek.

The current Star Trek is always hated and all the old stuff is loved. I guarantee you in twenty years, the current Star Trek will be hated and people will be nostalgic about the Kurtzman days. This is the Way.

I feel like most of the things said about Kurtzman and Discovery could be totally interchanged with things said about Berman and Enterprise. But sometimes it seems like I'm the only one who remembers how much people loathed Berman and Enterprise.

My understanding is that it's rumored that Picard season 2 would have a subplot with a young Picard on the Stargazer that could serve as a springboard to a spinoff if the fan reaction is positive. Like how the positive fan reaction to Pike on Disco is now leading to SNW.

That's probably not going to happen, but if it did, I'd be quite happy to watch a show taking place during the Lost Years between TUC and TNG, with ship designs from the TMP era, and everybody wearing the monster maroons.

But as I said, it's doubtful that will happen.
