I just finished KM. I really liked it - Valdore is a cool bad guy (I can definitely see Brian Thompson saying everything Valdore said in this film).

All in all, a great work. I hope that the actual Romulan War novel (or, as I keep hoping, novels) will do justice to it.

Nijil is a spy, isn't he? AFAIK, he was working for those people who raided Ehrehin's lab - they paid him for allowing them access to it. And I'm still confused about Sopek/Ch'uiv - I'd love it if Jack Bauer could ask him "WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR?!?" 
And apparently the thing about Columbia was a red herring: Nothing happens to it in the novel - the last scene with the ship, does not end on a cliffhanger. Certainly nothing that would even hint at its 'calendar' fate. But talking about cliffhangers---TRIP!

Just got my copy from the store (only one there). I'll start reading it tonight.
The most relevant episodes would be "Babel One," "United," and "The Aenar," I think. Other than that, I think the only Romulan-related ENT episodes were "Minefield" and "Kir'Shara."
I finally got the book in the mail yesterday and over the last two nights have finished it. I can't understand why people are giving it bad reviews -- I thought it was excellent. It wasn't nearly as good as TGTMD but that was a tough book to follow.
Definately looking forward to "The Romulan War" in whatever form (trilogy, duology, etc or just a single book) it comes in next year. Hopefully all will be revealed and there will be several more ENT relaunch novels after it.
The only burning question I want answered from this book is whose side is Sopek on really? Columbia going missing will be dealt with in Destiny so I'm not too concerned about that.
If I had to lobby any real complaint sabout this book it is Hoshi was barely in it at all and Starfleet is far too weak to stand a chance against the Romulans even with 2 NX class starships. It seems to me that if this is going to be the Earth-Romulan war shouldn't Earth be doing most of the fighting?

Almost essential that you read this first, as it introduces many of the Romulan characters that are in, or are referenced to in Kobayashi Maru.
If you're going to watch Kir'Shara it would probably be a good idea to watch the first two eps. in that trilogy "The Forge" and "Awakening" before it.
Well I picked up my copy on monday night and they only had 2 books from what I seen. I didn't look over at the new paperbacks section cuz I was in a hurry to get to work but so far I have read up to chapter 3. Great way to continue where TGTMD and makes think if Enterprise had not been cancelled, would have the set up for the Earth-Romulan War been like this? Maybe, who knows for sure what Manny had planned in his mind. Liking how there is so many characters so far as well involved too.
Nice to know that the third NX is the Challenger after all. I know at least one audio series has the NX-03 named Challenger. Would be interesting to see if she does pop up in the next book.

ialfan: About your last spoiler: The NX class isn't the only ship that Starfleet has. It's already been established that the Daedalus class is already in existence. Assuming there are more Daedaluses (Daedali?) than there are NX, then probably most of the fighting during the war will be done by Daedalus-class vessels.
OTOH, it's not necessarily out of the realm of possibility for Earth itself to have its own, purely military, non-Starfleet fleet of ships... Kind of like this.

I'm half way through the book and I never expected
Andy & Micheal have done great job with this book.
That the Ces Horizon's fate poor Travis that was a real suprise. That fact about the Klingon ships and what Sopek /C'Lev has been up to in this book .Like what side is he on and why did he have people kill Ehreiinn. Nijil is up to no good either.

I must admit... in my notebook, I have a couple Romulan War ideas. They weren't developed that much --I had to strain to fill one page... but I guess that's goin' to the burner....
Good thing, too. It was one of my least favorite book ideas --and I certainly couldn't do it justice. Not alone, anyway....

That's because it didn't fit with the rest of the page.
