"Klingons vs The Federation" = Mundane

For the same reason that I wouldn't get overly excited about a new series about the Borg because we've already been there in Voyager or the Dominion in Deep Space Nine. The Klingon vs The Federation thing has already been done within the original series, DS9 season 4, TNG "Yesterday's Enterprise", "All Good Things", among other places. Hopefully the series won't focus on that. Does anyone else feel the same way? why or why not?

The series will focus on whatever the writers have already decided on for the fifteen episodes that they've already written. And it sure looks like Klingons vs the Federation to me.

That's unfortunate. Are you thrilled about that?

The war will be the backdrop of the series but isn't going to be the focus on every episode IMO. I think it is going to be how we can lift outselves up and be the best we can be in spite of a bad situation like a war going on. How does Starfleet be starfleet while they may have to do things they don't want to do in war? That is what I expect.

Hey, 6th time's the charm. Or is it the 7th? Whatever, it's Klingon time again. As long as they do something different with them instead of the same old Neanderthal with honor bullshit we should survive the 1st season.

It is clear from teh previews they are doing something different with the klingons... and the fanbase hates that the klingons are different. CBS can't win.

Other than their appearance, I haven't really seen a lot to indicate to me they are doing anything more with them than beasties with honor. But the problem with any of our perceptions is lack of data. We just haven't seen enough of anything in those two short clips to really tell us a whole lot. I'm good with more Klingons as long as they do something different with them.

Personally I expect that there will be a Federation storyline and a Klingon storyline, which will occasionally overlap. And while I think the Federation part will get more screen time, I expect to see movement in the Klingon storyline in practically every episode. I really doubt that Klingons are only a minor part of the show.

I'm hoping the Klingon war arc gets wrapped up in one or two seasons and we move on to other things and new aliens.

Plot is bullshit. All that matters are the people on the screen. We have no relevant information on that topic to judge Disco's success.

Would love if the Four-Year War is going on in the background. I expect the tone of the war stories to be a lot like "In Pale Moonlight".
Happy to be surprised, though.

I don't think these Klingons will be much like the ones in DS9 or TOS. I hope they act as differently as they look, and are more The Final Reflection than TNG...

Considering Burnham's specialty is xenoanthropology, I'm guessing that we will see her use those skills in plots having to do with discovering new alien species we never met before.

Sure -- there will be Klingons, too (but as others have said, it looks like it will be Klingons with a few added wrinkles to their story), but if the TOS "universe" was large enough to have only 6 Klingon episodes out of 79 episodes total (8%), and TNG's universe was large enough to have 31 episodes featuring the Klingons out of 176 (18%), then I think there is room enough in the DSC "universe" for other non-Klingon plotlines -- and even other recurring foes.

Don't forget, TOS even had enough room between the Klingon episodes and the other 70+ unique episodes for another recurring foe of the Federation -- the Romulans. Although, the Romulans were featured in only 2 TOS episodes (and they were mentioned, but unseen, in another episode).

Having said that, I think Klingons will be more (maybe much more) of a recurring theme through DSC than it was through any other Trek incarnation. But if those Klingon stories are fresh, interesting, and exciting then I'm up for it.

More like Progressive Klingons vs Alt Right Klingons with Federation Caught In Middle, Pick A Side. We know who is gonna win this one, Hollywood writers being Hollywood writers. No real surprise there. That's mundane.

I tend to get in excited in general terms... HEY THERE'S A NEW STAR TREK SHOW COMING!!! YAY!!!
It's harder to base your excitement on specifics... HEY THE NEW STAR TREK SHOW FEATURES AN EXACT DUPLICATE OF A CANON PHASE II PHASER RIFLE!!!
