Klingon Helmets in new trailer

Well it appears that he goes back to blow up Vulcan, so I'm assuming it's spock that he's after not Kirk.

Is it logical to suggest that after the events of Nemesis, the people of Romulus decided that Unification and/or peace with the federation wasn't such a bad idea?

I think he's going after both of them. It's indicated that Nero is the one that destroys the Kelvin, which gives Kirk some Daddy issues. Kirk may have been the target, but survived, but ended up becoming a punk kid and didn't start his illustrious career. Nero missed his mark, but maybe have still been satisfied with the result.

Target two could be Spock-- but it also seems like the Enterprise is saving Vulcan. Why just kill Spock when you can kill them all-- that certainly ends any want or need for Unification.

Wasn't there more than one "bad guy"...

Also, anyone wondering if this will tap into the "temporal cold war" of enterprises time frame?

I mean, these guys have cast such a large net of "source material" that they are drawing from...

I mean, you have several "degrees" of trek fans and non trek fans working on the story, you have paramount giving them a "blank check"... THe talk of scale and epic getting tossed around...

One must wonder just how much they've squeezed into this film. I mean, how long is it? For all we know this thing could be a 2hr plus epic spanning the "trek ages".

They kind of look like Darth Vader. Police droids, crazy space battles, gleaming while corridors, hovering bikes -- more evidence JJ wants this to be HIS Star Wars.

Sounds a little more like he wants his trek to kick the crap out of star wars...

"He said Han Solo was cooler than Captain Kirk!"

"Kick the little fucker's ass!"

That is not a droid or a robot.
Star Trek never, ever had any space-battles, no.
Have you looked at those white corridors in TOS?
Yeah, never have we seen any anti-grave vehicles in Trek.

Oh, and that poster is wrong, btw.
That isn't even a hover-bike. It clearly has wheels.

The cop has a hover bike... I think kirk does too, they just didn't finish the effects work on all the shot as the wheels on kirks bike seem to go away at one point.

What if Nero is actually a Romulan who had been in Klingon Captivity. He discovers that Spock is on the verge of bringing about Reunification between Romulus and Vulcan. Also because of the recent loss of their Senate, perhaps they are becoming members of the Federation to bring about political stability.

Nero, perhaps the son of a prominent and patriotic Tal-She-Ar (spl?) commander see's this as treason, and feels he is the only one able to stop it. The deal may already be done, hence the goal of killing off Spock. This may fail, and so he goes for Kirk aswell.

Are these Klingons from the future too? Are they soldiers of the Empire serving the high council or mercenary henchmen working for Nero like the Suliban worked for Future Guy? If they're working for Nero, it's a clever way to minimize Romulan presence in the movie. This isn't the first time that Klingon Mercs have been seen in Trek.

Well, I really think those are Klingons. It's certainly possible that the only Klingons in the film will be those holding Nero captive, and that's all we will see of them for this film.

I also see what looks like Klingon-style facial hair underneath those helmets, making it even more likely.

I actually didn't mind the trailer -- wasn't so enthused about it either. I think a lot of it looks cool... but I hope there is more than just cool looks to this new "vision" of Trek.

And in my humble opinion, Abrams and Orci & Kurtzman have a solid track record for making things that looks slick and cool (The Island, Transformers, Fringe, MI3) but in the end are kind of empty and lacking. I don't want Trek to suffer that fate.

Yeah - the last three out of four films have both been empty and lacking AND visually dull!

According to IMDB there are two Klingon guards and one Klingon prison guard. The guys wearing the helmets may be Klingons.

On the IMDB cast page, there are four actors listed as either Klingon Guard or Klingon Prison Guard.

There is also a listing for Klingon Prisoner.

So my guess is that they're Klingon Prison Guards.

EDIT: DOH!! Shoulda hit refresh before I posted.
