Kirk's Weaknesses?

True, but after the events of the Cetean Probe, Kirk was allowed to keep the newly designed Enterprise A at a reduced rank of course though, Disc! :techman:

His reduction in rank was really a joke since he didn't need that rank to captain a ship.

In fact, the way it is said it is basically "wink, wink, we're reducing you in rank, wink, wink"

Yeah I know! Really he should have received a medal but because he was a naughty little boy he got a slapped wrist! Just think if he had of obeyed orders then they could all have been playing cards or stones in the ruined city of San Francisco! :techman:

I was always disappointed they didn't confirm he was a rear admiral and say "reduced one step in rank" or "two steps in rank."

I'm sure that retiring at Captain grade instead of as an Admiral greatly affected his pension, though.

I recall a Mad or Cracked parody of TVH where one of the characters comments that they reduced Kirk's rank to captain and gave him back his old ship, and another character responds that it's too bad they didn't bust him down to private (sic), then he could have gotten a whole fleet!

I don't see why an admiral can't captain a ship. In fact, I'd expect him to captain a mothership. Plus I seem to remember that Riker in the future part of "All Good Things..." was an admiral yet he was able to take command of the future Enterprise. I think an Admiral would have more latitude in choosing his missions and in how these missions should be conducted.

Yeah someone told me about that the other day when I was moaning about the deadheads as they wander about staring into that screen! It really beats me why they're so crazy about them!!!
JB

It's the hive mind, they are being assimilated. Resistance is futile.

It baffles me why they're so engrossed by a flashing screen on a black box? And why would you want people talking to you on the phone while you're shopping and everyone can hear your conversation?
