Kirk's Brother

I see no evidence from Star Trek that Kirk is an only child in the new timeline.

When I saw the movie, I heard him say "Georgie" which I knew was his brother George Samuel Kirk, Jr. It never occurred to me to be anyone else, although I did not catch the entire dialogue over the roar of the engine.

He says "Johnny" which is what is listed in the credits.
I heard "Georgie". Prove otherwise.

I would post up the scene somewhere, but I'd be violating copyright laws.

But, I've watched that moment a half dozen times now and it sounds like Johnny to me.

I heard Johnny. They wouldn't call a character George and then credit the actor with John.

PiperMaru22, it's the step-dad. I don't remember anyone being called uncle.

Oh ok. I think I was confused because I kept seeing some people refer to an Uncle Frank around here. I wasn't sure if that was related to this or not.

...and it's suggested that the corvette belonged to George, Sr., -- not the step-dad. George Sam says he thinks the step-dad is going to sell it; then he leaves home, because the step-dad and he don't get along. He walks out on the road.

Jim doesn't want to live there without Sam. This is why he takes the car out on the road and nearly kills himself and demolishes the car. It's hinted Jim thought momentarily about going over the cliff with the car.

And why would he be? As I said, Jim is the *younger* brother. The divergence happened at the moment of his birth. Therefore, his brother must already have been born, and thus must also exist in the new timeline.

Thanks for that! :) This really fleshes it out more and makes a lot of sense. I think I'm going to look for the novelization next time I'm at the bookstore.

Btw, since I haven't read the novel yet, is it uncle Frank (as in Kirk's actual uncle) or his step father (and just being called 'uncle')?

I rather like the theory I read somewhere that Frank was George's brother, who married Kirk's mom after the Kelvin affair. Thus, Frank can be both Kirk's uncle and step-dad.

I was sure I heard "Johnny" too - both times I saw the film.

I was thinking (then) that it would have been cool if young Kirk had shouted out "Hey Gary!" instead...

It sounded like "Johnny" to me all six times I watched it.

Its his brother. George Samuel Kirk.

In this timeline instead of calling him Sam, he calls hm Johnny- an inside joke between them as the stepdad they hate is Sam- George jr. is always trying to get in on things at the last minute, a johnny come lately, so little Jimmy calls him Johnny.,... Or Stepdad hates the name Johnny so they call each other Johnny as a joke....:rolleyes:
