I heard "Georgie". Prove otherwise. When I saw the movie, I heard him say "Georgie" which I knew was his brother George Samuel Kirk, Jr. It never occurred to me to be anyone else, although I did not catch the entire dialogue over the roar of the engine.
He says "Johnny" which is what is listed in the credits.

PiperMaru22, it's the step-dad. I don't remember anyone being called uncle.

Oh ok. I think I was confused because I kept seeing some people refer to an Uncle Frank around here. I wasn't sure if that was related to this or not.
I see no evidence from Star Trek that Kirk is an only child in the new timeline.

Jim doesn't want to live there without Sam. This is why he takes the car out on the road and nearly kills himself and demolishes the car. It's hinted Jim thought momentarily about going over the cliff with the car.
Btw, since I haven't read the novel yet, is it uncle Frank (as in Kirk's actual uncle) or his step father (and just being called 'uncle')?
I was sure I heard "Johnny" too - both times I saw the film.
I was thinking (then) that it would have been cool if young Kirk had shouted out "Hey Gary!" instead...
