kirk OR Denny Crane

I really haven't seen enough of Boston Legal to judge whether Crane is better than Kirk, so I've got to say Kirk.

How would there have been a Denny Crane without James Kirk?

I agree with this. Kirk made Shatner an icon. As great a character as Crane was, and as much as the show allowed Shatner to show off his acting chops and earn the respect he so richly deserved, I think a lot of Crane's impact had much to do with the fact that all of us Shatner fans could FINALLY say, "See, the man really can act. It wasn't just fluff."

Oh, and I want to give a shout out to the Twilight Zone and Hooker references.

I'll say this much. Denny Crane is infinitely better on every level than his role as The Big Giant Head on 3rd ROCK FROM THE SUN.
