Did NBC's Kings ever make it to disc? The only info I found was posted when it still ran...
It said you could pre-order it.

Liked the show but when they announced it was canceled I stopped watching-figured it would be more fun on dvd without interruption.

^It is indeed. It is also available on Netflix.

It's a wonderful series (or at least, it would have been)--very intelligently written, superbly acted. It's a pity that NBC did such a poor job marketing it.

I'm just happy they made enough episodes to get to a natural break point. My DVD is in the rotation with Firefly/Serenity and The Wire. I wouldn't mind revisiting David after King Silas goes down.

Too bad the lead (David) was unconvincing. Ian McShane, though, I could listen to him reading the phone book...

The bizarre way that it was another world but it's still somehow our world was really to difficult to get into. It gets very confusing thematically. For a big instance, giving the adult David some of the imagined innocence of the child David from the Bible, in an effort to reconcile on screen David's conflicting orgin stories, apparently irritated viewers who insist on their heroes being badass.

I loved that show. It had GREAT potential... but the network didn't know what the heck to do with it or how to publicize it.

It really would have been better as a cable series. :(

So very true. He is awesome beyond words. I hope he finds another series like Lovejoy or Deadwood (damn---talk about range!) where he can really shine.

I didn't notice any TrekBBS threads on The Pillars Of The Earth miniseries where he played the Bishop

I loved that show especially the struggle between David and Silas and the thing is that David isn't unaware of the reason why Silas wants him out of the picture until the final episode and the final scene between them was just great. I wished if the show had ended after Season 2 instead of Season 1 since it was the assumption that David would become King at the end of that season which would have been a nice bookend to the series.

The show was pretty faithful to the story of David's rise. David DID spend time in the territory of Gath, during which Jonathon and Saul died in war. He then returned to become the new King.

Which means that someone can pick up the show in a few years and take another shot at the concept.
