King of the Hill canceled

It's great because it runs a thin line between mocking liberals and mocking conservatives. In many ways, Hank is just like Homer, but much more subtle about his stubbornness.

I honestly hope they were able to give it an ending - that when the show was canceled two or three years ago and then saved, they thought ahead and made the finale "just in case". The payoff of the series would be seeing Bobby all grown up and being his own man, whether he ends up being a performer in New York or a Propane salesman in Arlen.

I've chuckled a time or two watching it, but other than that, never really got into it. Count me as another who does something else between 8:30 and 9:00.

Bummer for the fans though. Still, can't bitch too badly about 13 years.

Another good ending : The Alley Gang is standing there with their beers - and Khan is standing there with them, like its nothing. He has been fully 'redneckized'.

I never could get into the show either. Maybe it's a Texan thing? I have no idea. I swear that 90% of the episodes I watched involved Bobby doing something very effeminate. I am pretty confident he will turn out to be gay.

That would be an awesome final shot. :)
Maybe he walks into frame, they all do their specific "grunts" and he does his own... and then cut to credit title card.

That's bullshit! All of this to make room for the washed-up and overrated Seth MacFarlene's crappy comedy shows.

King of the Hill might not have been South Park or The Simpsons but many times it felt like one of the most authentic shows on television.

Well, this sucks, but at this point it's something of a mercy killing I suppose. It felt like they ran out of steam about three years ago. I just hope they got a chance to give it a good ending and a sense of closure.

I always found KOTH very enjoyable... it's a shame. Actually there was a period where I stopped being into it, but the past couple of years seemed to have improved on that earlier middling period.

And actually, FOX cancelled one of my favorite shows, The Critic, in order to make room for King of the Hill in the 1st place.
Wow, didn't know that. I loved The Critic. KoTH grew on me though, I found I liked it as well.

But that many seasons is good.

Really surprised the ratings weren't that bad and the weak link of sunday was American Dad in terms of ratings but then I guess after 13 seasons, the show is not cheap to produce anymore but I thought it was going to make it for 15.

FOX really should of waited though to make sure the new Animated stuff in midseason actually finds an audience.

:(

Sorry, Super Grover.
It's a loss for all of us. Koth has a way of making wonderful social commentary without being insulting. I only hope that in the final season we see the gang grow up a little. It'd be nice to see a teenage bobby :D

I always felt the show was necessary to the Sunday lineup. It style of dry humor served as a palate cleanser and contrast to the other zaniness on that night. It balanced out the night, Kind of the yin to the yang.

Oh yeah they had some seasons where they lost focus. They gayed up Bobby a little too much (Dog Dancing anyone), but these last few seasons they've really come back.

It's really the little things they do that you appreciate. Like the time Hank was looking after Boomhauer's house while he was gone, and found he had a video camera in the bedroom. He turned it on and looked at himself and Peggy on the screen. Confused as to why someone would have this in the bedroom, he begins to anchor a fake newscast. "This is Hank Hill with the news."

That's really too bad. I haven't been following King of the Hill for years but I've always been amazed at how KotH's cast feels more 'real' than 80% of sitcoms with non-cartoon characters and actors. That really is a testament. All of the major characters are really psychologically complex...I like to pick apart Dale's character and see all of the paradoxes.
