It's great because it runs a thin line between mocking liberals and mocking conservatives. In many ways, Hank is just like Homer, but much more subtle about his stubbornness.
I honestly hope they were able to give it an ending - that when the show was canceled two or three years ago and then saved, they thought ahead and made the finale "just in case". The payoff of the series would be seeing Bobby all grown up and being his own man, whether he ends up being a performer in New York or a Propane salesman in Arlen.
