Spoilers Killjoys - Season 4

Hannah John-Kamen being in the new Wasp movie reminded me that I have no clue when this show is coming back, so I went on the google machine to find out.

It's back soon, in two weeks, on July 20th, so I figured I'll start a thread now in case you've missed all the promotion for the show that SyFy has been doing... :shifty:

There's a short teaser out:

Apparently Dutch goes north of the Wall ;)

It's felt sort of like forever since S3 ended. :p But I'm looking forward to the new season.

Glad it's back soon. I enjoy it a lot while it's on but forget it and literally everything about the plot a week after the season ends. I don't have the time for a rewatch, guess I have to find an in-depth recap somewhere. .

So that's how Dutch got the name... :D

A prequel episode to be sure, but a good one. It had a very classic killjoys and killjoying related activities vibe to it, it was nice to see some early Dutch and Johnny (and Lucy), the ongoing plot didn't move much on account of Khlyen still being all mysterious about the shady Lady, but no matter.

Glad the show's back, looking forward to the rest of the season. :techman:

I didn't get around to rewatching season 3, so yesterday afternoon I read the plot recaps on the Killjoys Wiki.

Anyway, it was an odd way to pick up after that cliffhanger, apparently jumping past an initial conflict with The Lady, and kind of setting back the momentum with a digression into origin stories. I was hoping for a bit more explanation of who or what The Lady is.

Yeah, I was expecting a bit more of Aneela and Dutch interacting at very least, but it seems they've skipped ahead quite a lot. I do wonder if we'll see what happened in Greenspace between S3 finale and now in a future episode, or possibly in flashbacks over several episodes.

On reflection, as odd as the story jump is, I'm not sure I really want to see much of the activity in the Greenspace. I'm not a fan of low-budget TV depictions of virtual mindspaces. "This is all in our minds, but it looks exactly like our regular standing sets/whatever Toronto locations we could afford." Maybe it would be better to just get back to the real world and discuss the Greenspace mostly in dialogue, because then we can imagine something more impressive.

I should imagine at least some expository dialogue on the nature of The Lady took place there, Khlyen couldn't have been all cryptic all the time surely ;)

An interesting start to the season, and certainly not the origin I'd have expected for how Dutch and Johnny joined the RAC. :D

Yeah... I always had the impression they became Killjoys before coming to the Quad. But it makes sense -- if the Quad is where they found their calling in life, it helps explain their attachment to it.

I think one nice touch, personally, was showing that John and Lucy initially had a rather antagonistic relationship (since Lucy is essentially Dutch's ship), and Johnny's willingness to ask for trust even though they didn't get along well at that point.

also explains the brother/sister type relationship between the two (which is definite improvement over cliched sexual tension).

Great, I missed the premiere, and it's not on demand yet. Urg.

I don't know when it comes up, but you should be alright with just jumping in with episode 2 if it doesn't pop up before that. The first one was mostly a prequel on how Dutch and Johnny came to the Quad.

If you have something like FIOS, it should already be up. I couldn't watch the main airing due to work, but I was able watch it OD the next day.

^ I have a Amazon FireTV which I installed the SYFY app on. It was available on the SYFY app less than 24 hours after the first broadcast. The SYFY app is free and part of the FireTV service through Amazon.

Heh - I discovered it had recorded on my DVR, which is still set for "new episodes" since last year. Didn't think of looking there.

PVR be praised :)

Will admit I lost track of the date so was fortunate my tivo is set to record new eps automagically.
