Spoilers Killjoys - Season 3

As much as I enjoy the series I'm wondering what effect Hannah John-Kamen's movie career is going to have on its future.

suppose it could come down to her asking price its possible they could still fit in as they only do 10 eps a season.

How long does it take to film a 10-episode TV season? 10 or 12 weeks? She's available 40 weeks of the year for film work, then. I hope she does both and doesn't have to choose.

Just binged all 4 episodes.

Wow, those first 2 epsidoes were really good, and 3 and 4 were cool too. Seems like this season is off to a flying start. I'll agree that it's weird that Johnny came back at the end of Ep 2, it seemed like their separation was going to drag out a bit longer.

As for Hannah John-Kamen, yeah, good luck keeping her. She's so important to the show that she even has two roles. And I've enjoyed the Aneela scenes so far this season. Fun little cutaways.

Oh, dear... Clara's missing and some new character has her robot arm. That kinda feels like they were unable to get Stephanie Leonidas back and had to rewrite around her absence. I was really hoping to see more of her this season. Anyway, it looks like they're tying the whole "hack mod" story thread in with the Hullen conspiracy now.

Meanwhile, back in the Quad, it's weird to see Alvis and especially Pree fighting alongside the Killjoys. I mean, sure, Pree's an ex-warlord, but he seems happy to be a bartender now. It was also kinda weird, on a female-driven show like this, to see such a large team with only one woman on it, or even with no women when Dutch was off being interrogated.

Dutch is the Alpha and the lead. It's not so different to real world office environs...and moe importantly, no one actually gives a monkeys for the most part in the shows fiction. She shoots kills and fights the men, the stereotypical 'caregiver' roles are actually all men apart from the doctor....am only just starting season 2, but I see nothing that 'has' to be a certain way cos there's a woman helming the show and the ship. Sure...show has as many pretty boys as pretty girls, more of an equalitarian gaze as it were, but Trek did that too. It's a fun pseudo-nineties show like Dark Matter, probably why I like it...sure it's notched a few inches more towards grim than Dark Matter thus far, but it ignores real world politics. More power to helmswoman of show I say. And it's weird not-quite-recognising Stephanie...years of makeup in defiance, and not the badass waif of mirrormask anymore.
But hey...I am odd. I don't really feel a belief in a difference between art-made-by-man and art-made-by-woman unless the artist is going out of their way to do it. Equality...we all sharpen our pencils the same ways.

There's a new episode tonight, but I can't get the episode title or description to load on TV Guide.

The title of the episode is Attack the Rack.
I think that's also the synopsis. ;)

*Tomb Raider, Ready Player One and Ant Man & The Wasp in the next twelve months.
I suppose it depends on her contract?
Do we know how long the actors are contracted for on syfy?
From the few show I have watched on syfy they don't really go over 5 seasons.

Killjoys is a Canadian show made for the Space network, although Syfy (or rather, Universal Cable Productions) is a co-producer.

I believe Killjoys has a planned 5-season arc, so I'd assume the actors are under contract for that long. Of course, whether it actually gets there depends on whether the ratings remain good enough to warrant two more renewals.

It is starting to feel like a more focused, more fun Babylon 5 as it goes on, and this is probably why.

I don't think HJK will leave the show before it's over, by the time those movies hit the screen season 4 will already be in the can (hopefully there will be a season 4, and 5 after that, then 6... ;) )
Worst case scenario, there is an in-universe explanation and precedent on how someone can completely change their appearance...

Anyway, I've been lagging behind the show, finally all caught up now.
Last episode really kicked it into gear, it had a very "season finale" feel to it, it's nice when you don't have to wait a whole year to see the next bit but I am wondering if they're not rushing things out of fear of cancellation.

So, just another riff on the vampire /zombie genre, only with green goo and alien parasites. The Hollan are practically immoral, super strong, telepathic and can only be killed with a spike to a vital body location.

Well that was an interesting twist with the Hullen ship. Then they immediately end it.

Not so much end it as advance it to the next stage. Aneela had been contained, but now she's broken free and is vengeful, and she's likely to become even more destructive. And I think the main Hullen baddie, Kendry's nemesis whose name I forget, is still out there.

The "locked-room murder mystery in a space elevator" plot reminds me of Adam-Troy Castro's second Andrea Cort novel, The Third Claw of God. Although this was on a much smaller scale. It's a little unclear why the Necropolis needed an elevator arrangement. But it's a nice variation, not just the same old, same old kind of space station we usually get on TV/film.

Gander. I don't think he's the main main baddie though, whoever (whatever?) was pretending to be Khlyen didn't seem to be him.

I never commented on last week's after I watched it yesterday.
The big thing with the Hullen not actually being loyal to Aneela was a big surprise. I'm curious to see where exactly they're going with all of that now.
The stuff on the Necroplolis was pretty good, it was nice to get a bit of follow up on Pawter's death.

Desperate for an advantage, Dutch goes AWOL and risks a dangerous procedure that connects her to Aneela's memories
The description on Syfy's Killjoys page is a bit more casual, but also interesting.

Dutch and her double Aneela's origins are revealed. It's not what you expected.
EDIT: Forgot the promo, so here it is

So Dutch is some kind of Hullen-made clone of Aneela? Her memory of her child self magically made flesh? How the hell does that work?

I didn't expect Turin to take such a dark turn. He's always been kind of a jerk, but he's turned out to be basically on the right side in the past, and he was the only one who trusted Fancy during the Hullen interrogation, even if he did have a moment of doubt. So this is a surprising development. But it (and Dutch's absence) opened the door for D'avin to take a major step upward in leadership. That should be interesting. I've become much more impressed with Luke Macfarlane as an actor than I was in the first season. He has the presence and authority to play a leader effectively.

I was noticing the cinematography last night. The show is beautiful to look at.

So, yeah, WHERE the hell did Dutch pop up from there?? Did she just manifest in the tub? Did Aneela give birth to her (which would have been quite painful, since Dutch seemed to be about 7) :cardie:

And from what Klhylen said about removing the family name from the records, does that mean before the Quad had The Nine they had The Ten?
