maybe im not fully understand the refrence, but isnt Twilight about some lame ass vampire dude, pretty sure you can safely drink human blood, I normally suck blood from various body parts when I cut them. So what would be the big deal?
Since blood would have salinity similar to sea water I suspect a sufficient quantity would cause similar problems associated with excess sodium consumption. I have also seen mention that as top level long lived predators (eating so much meat and/or fish for decades) human flesh (and I would suspect blood) would contain enough heavy metals and other toxins to make frequent consumption inadvisable.
Than there's the issue of blood borne diseases, which would include hepatitis, HIV and other STDs. One advantage of non-primate livestock is that some infections they are troubled with would be specialized enough to not affect humans.

Anyway, I didn't mean the consumption of blood in itself, I meant more along the lines that people don't usually part with their blood willingly.

I suppose their is a difference between sucking blood from a small cut on your own body, to letting someone drink from you.

... so just to add my tuppence-worth(!) - if you drink too much blood (human or otherwise), you can end up with some pretty nasty stuff happening to you (and that's even assuming no parasites or other nasties in their blood that could survive digestion).
Obviously relatively modest amounts aren't going to be a problem but significant quantities will lead to melaena (really, really nasty smelling tarry black faeces) and there's also a chance you'll absorb too much iron, leading to siderosis. In short, as Aristotle would advise, pan metron ariston. You can indulge in a little nip at their jugular, but don't suck 'em dry.

I remember one guy -- don't recall if it ws on the radio or TV -- decided to try what it's like to drink blood. Based on that certain people claim to drink blood, he decided to give it a try, with a small glass of blood. The results werent' what he expected, and he didn't make it to the toilet in time before throwing it up everywhere. Needless to say, as he indicated, his wife was not very happy with the mess when she got home.
Actually the human body CAN safely drink up to about a pint of blood. But each persons tollerances is different.

Yeah, I always found that sex/blood play just creepy, but still miles better than shit/sex play.

I cound't see any reason to drink blood. Certainly not for sex play.
But, yeah, it's better than sex with poo.
