Kid’s movies…

But if the whole point of the prequels was to follow Anakin's transformation into Vader

Ah, but that was a mistake. Star Wars is, at its core, first and foremost a space adventure saga, not a Shakespearean one-family drama. The main point of the PT should have been the Jedi's struggles against evil, orc-like clones and the Dark Side sorcerer leading them, and the increasing violence of Anakin (a real "If you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you" situation), along with the surprise reveal of Palpatine's own evil, should have been the secondary story.

And no, there was no need for Luke and Leia's mother to have been a primary character. Obi-Wan's flame could and should have been the PT's main heroine.

Bottom line: I respect Lucas' thematic intentions for the PT, but, in terms of narrative and story structure, not to mention basic character dynamics, he got almost everything wrong.

Padme... you got some splainin to do!!!

The Holy Scriptures say...

"He just cant wait, hes marked that day,Hes so excited he he might hyperventilate,Thinks hes in the scene on desert Tatooine,Its his big day, its his big day!Dressed in his place for a favour race,He wants to nail Queen Amadela up in outer-space,Hes Obi-Wan-Kenobi so, Hey hey do that jedi thing!"

One thing is that the films were designed that, if you were nine for when The Phantom Menace came out in 1999, you would be fifteen when Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005. Much like how The Clone Wars and Rebels storytelling grew up as the shows continued as the expected core audience was growing up with the young characters (Ahsoka and Ezra).

I would have just skipped the pre-Clone Wars era entirely and start with Anakin already a Padawan and start The Clone Wars at the episode of Episode I, and then Episode II would be set during the height of the war, and then Revenge of the Sith could pretty much stay the same.

The audience needs to see that Anakin was innocent and the Republic noble before they chose to fall into darkness. It's an essentially didactic story about valuing the good in oneself (and the world) over the evil.
