Kestra

Well, since CBS apparently wants to make lots of Trek forever, maybe we can get a Starfleet Academy series with Kestra in a few years.

She seems like an imaginative person who enjoys adventure. So, limiting to things we know are options, that probably means:
1. Starfleet
2. A field researcher for one of the Institutes ("this belongs in a museum" ;) )
3. An author
4. A criminal, but probably more like Vash than Harry Mudd.

She was likeable. But looked nothing like either of her parents!
Maybe she was adopted? Maybe both of their kids were: there's no telling what effect the events of "The Child" had on Deanna's ability to have more kids later.

Or maybe she was genetically engineered. We know that it's illegal to make genetically enhanced children, but I don't know that it has been clearly stated that it isn't allowed to make genetic selections for your children that do not result in a superior being. I'd think hair color and pattern, eye color, and skin color, would probably all be safely on the table, with maybe some counseling required to make sure that the parents aren't making selections based on some sort of supremacist nonsense.

I doubt Kestra was genetically engineered. The Rikers don't strike me as the type who would do that.
Me, either, under most circumstances, but perhaps it was "encouraged" by the fact that they needed a little bit of genetic engineering anyway in order to get the Betazoid half of Deanna to jive with the rest?

But okay: The theory about her really being O'Brien's kid it is, then.
