Kelvin Blue Uniforms

teacherbrock

Anyone else notice the subtle nod to ENT and their blue uniforms? All uniforms on the USS KELVIN are blue, a sort of missing link between the uniforms of the future and the past(ie ENT). Being an ENT fan it almost made the movie for me.

I didn't make that connection, but I liked those uniforms. Although, they looked more like the future uniforms from "All Good Things..." and "The Visitor"

What looked like the comms officer on the Kelvin was wearing a Yellow Uniform. You see her just before Ayel Pops up on screen.

Ya, I thoght that was a cool nod to ENT. Ya see people, ENTERPRISE IS CANON!:D

Better that something is subtle rather than annoyingly fanboyish like the John Archer Administration Building or some such crap

I went to Lincoln High School, Jordi went to Zephrim Chochrim(sp?) high school, what would be so cheezy about a building named after the George Washington of the Federation?

Likely a lens flare, everyone was in blue. ENT and Kelvin uniforms are likely an evolution of the FIRST WARP FLIGHT jumpsuits

Which of course are meant to be nasa-like I'm sure.

But the Kelvin uniforms also had the single stripe of colour around the collarbone - seems like a derivative of ENT.

I thought that it was kinda dumb that they weren't all naked. Surely environmental control systems will be very advanced by the Kelvin era. Why would clothes be necessary?

Exactly. Not the mention the primitiveness of wearing dead or inert matter for the sole reason of prudeness, which should be done away with by that time. :D

^Naked in the future? Well, considering there are shift changes, maybe they don't want to share each others's sweat on the seats, along with other unseemly secretions! :p -- RR

Captain Robau: Badass and Bare-assed!
I'd rather see Uhura naked; we saw way too little of that in the movie. :D

i saw yellow as well. the uniforms did seem like some kind of evolution between ENT and TOS

The uniforms seem to go in cycles. The First Contact uniforms resemble TOS uniforms quite a bit when you take off the jacket.

I just got an early TNG vibe from them. Clingey like spandex. Bleh. Looked out of place on a sharp bridge mostly reminiscent of ENT. They should've just stuck with the rugid denim flightsuits, maybe redone in departmental colours (like miners and colonists during TOS). The industrial Engineering sets in Abramsverse bother me too... positively Victorian compared to the NX-01.

I like that idea, of the slightly coloured jumpsuits.

Maybe not a carbon copy of Ents, but at least a progressive jump.

I agree also about the engineering sets, i get the aspect of making them all Big and Badass as they are essentially a power plant for a vessel of a massive size, but it doenst mean it should look like a distillery.

I also didnt like how engineering and the hanger bay were almost interconnected. You walk through engine room and into the shuttle bay. odd. Even in TMP the hanger/cargo area was seperated from the engine rooms.
