This rumor makes sense sine there is a link between Grammer and Trek. He worked on X-Men with Patrick Stewart - a trek alumni.

And Grammer was on TNG and (depending on who you ask) had a voice cameo in "First Contact." Apparently, he likes it.

Eh, it's an okay joke.

I kinda liked his brief Trek stint in "Cause and Effect", from which that bearded Grammer was probably photoshopped.

I consider Fraiser to be hilarious. I'd be quite happy with Kesley Grammer in the new film for real as captain... but only if David Hyde Pierce plays the ship's counselor.

Wouldn't be that bad though, if he was playing Capt.Morgan Bateson then the Captain thrown outside his own time would be a perfect choice for Spock to travel back in time with.

They would have less invested in that time frame, and wouldn't care that much if things didn't quite work out as it was "suppose" to.

I would actually kinda like to see Kelsey Grammer as a Klingon. I think he'd be perfect as the TOS-type smooth-headed Klingon, with his aristocratic voice. It'll probably never happen, but hey, he wouldn't be the first sitcom star who ended up playing a Klingon (he'd be the third, to my knowledge: Christopher Lloyd, of course, and then James Avery in ENT).

The statement that it was a production still is also quite laughable, considering shooting doesn't start till November. "Alright, let's just do some full costume and lighting tests of Mr. Grammer in the bridge set...hey, what was that flash?"
